Ocean's Eleven Set for All-Female Reboot, Sandra Bullock to Star

Ocean's Eleven was that rare movie remake--one that virtually everyone agreed was a massive improvement on the original. Now it seems that the comedy heist thriller is heading for another revamp, this time with a twist.

The Playlist are reporting that the new version of Ocean's Eleven will star Sandra Bullock, leading an all-female team to perform some inevitably daring heists. George Clooney, star of the 2001 film and its two sequels, is producing, alongside their director, Steven Soderbergh.

Gary Ross, who helmed the first Hunger Games, is set to direct. According to The Playlist, it is also rumoured that Clooney may cameo as Danny Ocean, suggesting that this new version will exist in the same universe as Soderbergh's movies, rather than being a direct remake. No other cast members have been announced so far.

The picture has been in development for some time, and it was allegedly a big reason for the fast-tracking of the competing female-led reboot of Ghostbusters at Sony, which is now set for a July 2016 release.

The 2001 Ocean's Eleven earned $450 million worldwide, and while the two sequels were not quite as successful, they all proved to be considerable box office hits.
