New details about the upcoming female-fronted Ocean's Eleven reboot have emerged. Mindy Kaling, who will star in the film alongside Cate Blanchett, Sandra Bullock, Anne Hathaway, and Helena Bonham Carter, revealed on late night TV that the movie will take place, at least in part, in New York City.

In an appearance on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, she teased that the film will have a "fashion element" to it, though she did not share further specifics. Kaling also joked that her character's talent would be the element of distraction. "I get attacked by the guard dog so they can break into the casino," she said.

On a more serious note, Kaling said Ocean's Eight, as it's being called, is a perfect movie for her. "If you took all my favorite things and shook it up in a blender, this would be the Mindy Kaling movie," she said.

Kaling also confirmed that she'll start shooting her scenes in two weeks.

Singer Rihanna and rapper/comedienne Awkwafina will also appear in Ocean's Eight. It's also important to note that the movie is still casting. Only seven of the title's eight leads have been announced, and it remains possible that characters from Steven Soderbergh's Ocean's trilogy might make an appearance.

Jennifer Lawrence and Elizabeth Banks are rumored to be in consideration for the movie.

The film will be directed by Gary Ross, who helmed the first Hunger Games, and produced by Soderbergh. According to The Tracking Board, Bullock will play the sister of Danny Ocean, the character portrayed by George Clooney in Soderbergh's films.

In an interview with Slashfilm in June, Ross explained that he would very much follow the tone set by the hugely successful original trilogy. "I think it's a pretty similar tone," he said. "You know, Steven and I are incredibly close friends, and we would not have done this if we weren't. I don't think he would've wanted anyone to do it if we weren't. This is very much an extension and a continuation. He's a producer on the movie."

Ocean's Eleven earned $450 million worldwide in 2001. While the two sequels weren't quite as successful, they all proved to be considerable box office hits, helping the franchise reach more than $1.1 billion at the box office, according to Box Office Mojo.

A release date for Ocean's Eight has not been announced.

Disclosure: The Late Show With Stephen Colbert airs on CBS, whose parent company owns GameSpot.
