NXT Crowns First Double Champion At WWE's Great American Bash

Keith Lee breaks Adam Cole's 403 day reign as NXT Champion, while being the first double-champ of the brand.

Keith Lee has proven he is absolutely limitless. On the second night of NXT's Great American Bash, Lee pinned Adam Cole to end his 403 day reign as NXT Champion. In the process, Lee also became the first man to hold both the NXT and North American Championships simultaneously.

Lee arrived at NXT in the spring of 2018 and made his television in-ring debut in August of that year. Eventually, Lee found himself to be number one contender to Roderick Strong's North American Championship in back in January of 2020 and won the title shortly after.

Lee has been a decorated champion across the independent scene having won the PWG World Championship as well as the WWN Championship and NAWA Tag Team Championship. After his celebration in the ring, recent signee Karrion Kross looked on from afar and hinted of a future rivalry with the newly-crowned champ.

Adam Cole is in an interesting position as he and the rest of the Undisputed Era have been the focal point of NXT for three years, and it's been speculated for over a month he could not resign and join his girlfriend Britt Baker at AEW.

For now though, Keith Lee is the NXT dual champ and having already won the Break-out Star of 2019, it seems big things are in store Mr. Limitless.
