Norman Reedus Hopeful Kojima-Del Toro Collaboration Will Eventually Happen

"It's like destiny, it needs to happen."

The Walking Dead actor Norman Reedus, who was going to play a role in the canceled Silent Hills project, has now spoken out to say a game involving him, Hideo Kojima, and Guillermo del Toro "needs to happen."

No Caption Provided

"I'm super bummed that that happened back in Japan," Reedus said to IGN of the game's canning. "But I have faith. I have faith that we, the three of us, can do something else."

Reedus called Kojima and del Toro "geniuses."

"There were so many ideas and cool future happenings that were thrown around," Reedus said. "I just can't see us not picking this up somewhere."

Reedus went on to say that he has been overwhelmed by the fan reaction to Silent Hills' cancellation, so much so that it's caused him say think, "'Holy balls. It has to happen. You need to do this.'"

As far as how much work was actually done on Silent Hills, Reedus said he didn't know for sure, stating only that some photography was completed but "we never got into the full story stuff."

"It's like destiny, it needs to happen" -- Reedus

Reedus hasn't given up, however. "I have faith that we're going to do something though because it just seems like it was one of those things that needs to happen. It's like destiny, it needs to happen," he said.

In April, Konami confirmed it had canceled plans to develop Silent Hills, a move which del Toro believes "makes no f**king sense." The game was originally revealed through a free game called P.T.

"We were hoping to actually create some sort of panic with some of the devices we were talking about and it is really a shame that it’s not happening," del Toro said in October. "When you ask about how things operate, that makes no f**king sense at all that that game is not happening. Makes no f**king sense at all."

"We had a great experience and had great story sessions with hundreds upon hundreds of designs," he added. "Some of the stuff that we were designing for Silent Hills I've seen in games that came after, like The Last of Us, which makes me think we were not wrong, we were going in the right direction. The thing with Kojima and Silent Hills is that I thought we would do a really remarkable game and really go for the jugular."

Though Silent Hills as Kojima and del Toro imagined it may never happen, Konami has confirmed that it plans to "continue to develop the Silent Hill series."

Kojima reportedly left Konami on October 9 after almost three decades at the company. Konami denied reports of his departure, claiming he is still an employee and is instead on vacation. Del Toro, meanwhile, is working on a number of film projects, including Pacific Rim 2.

@nintendians: Basically, (technically speaking) i don't really think the "Silent Hills" ip is under konami (i know the "Silent Hill" ip is) so a game with this name could happen...as long as they don't include exactly same hero/antagonist/enemy names and street names...

Destiny was unnecessary.

People have said the whole time, just yank the Silent Hill name off of the project and go at it. You have all the creative folks there and a chance for a new start.

"Some of the stuff that we were designing for Silent Hills I've seen in games that came after, like The Last of Us..."

That's because N Dog was going for Survival-Horror and S Hill was a major influence. But the game wasn't scary for various reasons. It's still an amazing game though. No complaints.

Is it wrong to cling to a hope that this was all a ruse and the game is still going to happen? :(

MGS5 is the best gameplay ever in a huge sandbox environment. Only 2 things I dislike; 1.Unfinish story line. You can see unfinished footage on youtube but that should be in the game. 2. Repetitive main mission for no reason. I know you can skip it, but It is supposed to be marked as side mission.

@kritvichu: Go and play the Quarantine platform mission again and tell me Kojima wasn't totally thinking about Silent Hill when he made MGS5. That section may as well have been set in Silent Hill hospital. It even had a glowing red door at the end of a hallway.

@kritvichu: Is a result of how Konami most likely cut back the budget for the former Kojima Productions and thus resulted in some rushed out but not necessarily bad minor set of content. The game was still magnificent.

@RustedTruck650: The story was a mess, missions where repetative as F....! What do you mean what? MGS5 could have been a masterpiece but it ended up as just an ok game, nothing more than that.

@ojmstr: I agree a lot of the game is extremely repetitive which is part of the problem that put me off playing the game for a while as I play some of the newer stuff (still haven't beaten game). But you can't deny that it has some of the best stealth gameplay mechanics that have ever been in a game of this caliber. They probably shouldn't have made the game so large with a lot of vastness that has absolutely nothing for you to do.

@JIMDOG4442002: There are ALOT of people agreeing on what i just said, if you don't agree it*s fine, just stating my opinion after playing MGS5 for well over 100 hours, the game don*t deserve more than 8/10 maybe even 7/10.

@vexxouds: You are right, it's Konami who made the desicion to release the game as an unfinished product, they did it just for that exact release window to profit the most, they knew they fucked up but released it anyways, they, them self even spreded the rumor that Kojima got fired just to protect his reputation and give him no blame for this mess of a game. Now Kojima is back again and everything worked out fine, he was just on holyday it seems, hmmm strange. Lost alot of respect for Konami after this game, they spent 7 years making it and this is the story they gave us and these are the missions?? LOL!!! A masterpiece, ehh i don't think so.

euuuh..i hope you really dont believe he was talking about "destiny the game", but destiny....the word, in the english language, wich means "the predetermined, usually inevitable or irresistible, course of events." -from internet-

sometimes you people just read the articles word by word ,not sentece after sentence.

If Kojima, Reedus and Del Toro all come back together without the interference of Konami then I don't see why Silent Hills shouldn't get made. Too bad that the corporation still owns the rights and license to the franchise...

@robertcain: They could still make a very similar game. PT already looked completely different to any other SH game (except for 4 maybe).

I've never actually played any of the Silent Hill games.

But the game looked amazing from the short demo I watched and I would have definantly bought it.

One thing I would have done for sure is have my brother play it since he always pretend like there is absolutely nothing that would make him a tiny bit scared

And if there was any game that could have caused him to freak out a bit then it would have been this one.

@kartuzia: the only one I played was Silent Hill 4:the room and I was 14 I think, it was pretty fucked up and creepy. I played PT earlier this year and I've never been that scared freaked out by a movie/game/anything like that before. Granted I had been smoking meth for 5 days and hadn't slept in 6.....scary as **** man
