I for one would like for the movie to get here, get forgotten and move on to the next Bond actor. Craig is awesome actor, but so is Paul Giamatti ...hmm he would probably make a better Bond actually. Daniel Craig bond is 2000' emo, 12 step program, woke, gluten free, vanilla wafer bore.

Bond was like the spy superhero of the mid 20th century. Beat em up, crazy car chases, explosions, hot girls, and cool gadgets all while drinking a martini in a white tuxedo that never got dirty. Characters with names like pussy galore, goodnight, Dr No, and Goldfinger. Villains that wanted to blow up the moon or world, not cause ecological damage in the rain-forests or hedge fund petroleum.

Bond is male out of date throw back, but so were westerns, military movies, every Woody Allen picture, and on and on. You can put out a great over the top action movie, without casting almond milk characters.

Personally we need Idris Elba, Ewan McGregor, Chow Yun Fat, Tom Hardy or a woman to take on the Bond role. Powerful, over the top, consistently kills it, and scripts that do the same. Oh yeah bring back some cool villians, anyone that throws a hat as a weapon, cast em.

They should release it online cause of Covid. It would be cheaper too. Going to the movies feels like a waste of money today.

Wish they'd just release these movies online. It costs me 25$ - bare minimum - to get 2 tickets to a movie theater. I would pay at least 100$ just to be able to watch new movies in my house, comfortably on my couch, and completely avoid dealing with ridiculous concession prices, being able to pause when I need to take a piss, those people who won't STFU in the theater, the people who clap at the end like it's a stage performance, the people who bring their screaming baby, the people who won't get off their fucking phone....

Oh, and not having to worry about being shot is also a nice bonus, so there's that.

@sebb: Taiwan is a reference point for me to show that a country can keep doing what it's doing without fear of being destroyed by a virus. They were so prepared for this exact scenario, if only we all were. All that to say, things won't be 'back to normal' for a good long while.

@consolehaven: Here in the USA most of our citizens are wondering if this is a hoax or not, or the right amount of bleach to drink. We are actually ... stupiding ourselves to death. That may not be a verb, well it'll probably be one once this is over.

@jenovaschilld: it’s such a shame. Now that we have all the information we do, it’s obvious that we need to protect 60-90 year olds and people with underlying conditions. So, people with family in that category regularly get tested before spending time with them and those people stay at home. We open quarantine centres for them where only people that have tested negative go and the at risk. Meanwhile everyone works. The economy takes a small hit for sure, pensioners have disposable income, and people will miss a bit of work to help at risk family, but everyone else moves like before.

@consolehaven: In my state we have been rather lucky. Kentucky, who usually leads the way in being far behind, amazingly got this young crazily energetic new Governor with young kids. KY got hit pretty early by covid -19 as compared to other states, he immediately took action. More importantly he was one of the first to hold daily press conferences daily !! Which not only included day to day facts and numbers, but also stuff like now to hand wash, how to make a mask, how to work, simulations at work to avoid covid, numbers to call if your sick, report places putting others at risk- now he was doing this as early as March.

KY has gotten national coverage over such quick response. Allowing few work closures, fewer deaths, and cases. With a large majority of new infections in counties bordering other states on fire.

People have watched these videos in places as far away as other states, Poland, Israel, and Japan commenting that they would watch him everyday and feel safer, more at ease, more informed.

He started green lights, teddy bears in windows, and has always showed the numbers good and bad and in what counties. Allowing citizens enough choices in staying safe. Why I am mentioning all of this, is how important leadership in society is when it comes to a pandemic. Instead of everyone for themselves, or avoiding responsibility it shows what team work can do. A couple of years from now when Ken Burns does a documentary on this, it'll show irresponsible leadership and misinformation to be more deadlier then the virus.

@consolehaven: I fear you may be right. That said, shops are reopening in the UK tomorrow and the governmet is planning to review the two metre rule, so they say. New Zealand has completely lifted lockdown.

Choices, choices: put lockdown measures and crash the economy causing more deaths than covid-19, or protect a few people that have a 4% chance of dying. The longer the measures are in place, the less it makes sense to have them. People are losing their jobs as a result of industries shutting down and making people redundant, and these people will die if they have nothing to eat. The government cannot keep paying 80% of salaries indefinitely. Not to mention students whose studies are on hold indefinitely. Who will take the place of workers in the future, if no one is qualified? Things either get back to normal or society collapses.

Boris Johnson's comment "people should shop, and shop with confidence" makes me laugh because what are people who lost their income gonna be shopping with? The economy shrunk by 20.4% and Boris thinks that will bounce back. Over how long a period of time? How many kids will go hungry and live in poverty, and for how long until the economy bounces back? How many people will turn to crime because they lost their jobs and have no prospect because the industry in which they worked, and other industries have downsized? If no one is hiring anywhere, where can they go?

I guess these politicians suddenly realised that there would be no one left to pay their salaries if they crash the world economy.

@sebb: the general rule for finances is to make sure you have a cushion to cover 6 months to a year of expenses. I don’t think politicians were prepared to face the reality of how badly we manage our money. This isn’t a reproach, I come can be so low in many families as to make applying that principle very difficult to nigh impossible. What had to happen is for very wealthy companies have to pay higher than minimum wage and pay a minimum wage tax to help support smaller companies. Trickle down economics is a great principle in theory but needs a stronger framework. The wealthy also have to get over their dislike of paying taxes. I was on the brink of being wealthy pre covid and have no qualms of better supporting the middle class, because without a healthy middle class there is nothing to support the ambitions of the top 10%

@igroku: I care. Trust me, I've re-watched each movie into the double digits aside from those post Die Another Day (As a kid I was kind of obsessed) and there are some terrible ones that would be more fitting to thinking Bond is dead.

Bond isn't dead until they decide to start pushing an agenda (Like the whole idea of needing a woman Bond a few years back). Don't get me wrong as women can make a great spy movie, but we don't need Bond to be a woman for the sake of diversity.
