No Man's Sky Will Get PS5 And Xbox Series X/S Versions At Launch
The game released several years ago but is getting a full next-generation upgrade on the new systems.
No Man's Sky launched early in the console generation and has evolved drastically since then, with everything from multiplayer to base-building coming to the exploration-survival game. Now, it is giving you a new destination: next-generation consoles.
Coming at launch for Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PS5, the next-generation versions of No Man's Sky feature save compatibility with the older consoles, letting you continue where you left off. You'll be able to keep playing the PlayStation VR version on PS5, as well, though it will be the backwards compatible PS4 version.
The worlds will be more vibrant, with thicker flora and higher-resolution textures on the new consoles as well as PC via Ultra settings. You'll be able to build bigger bases than on the older systems, as shown off in the trailer above. Multiplayer sessions will include support for up to 32 players, and cross-play support will span every platform the game is on.
On Xbox Series X and PS5, No Man's Sky will run at 60 frames per second and 4K resolution, while Xbox Series S players can choose between a higher resolution or 60 frames per second gameplay. Because of the fast SSDs on the new consoles, they'll also warp between systems drastically faster than on Xbox One or PS4.
Because of the PS5's unique features, it gets most of the unique enhancements. These include trigger feedback on the DualSense, with the Multi-Tool providing resistance and clicks. It also supports 3D audio, though this isn't available on televisions at launch.
New enhancements will also be available for the PC version of No Man's Sky as part of the 3.10 update. You can check out the full patch notes below.
Xbox Series X and S both launch on November 10. The PS5 follows two days later on November 12, and is available both with or without a disc drive.

- Hover text has been added to banner emblems in the Appearance Customiser.
- On PS4 and Xbox One, when adding a No Man’s Sky friend who is playing on on the same platform, players are now also presented with the option to add them as a PSN or Xbox friend.
- Fixed a rare blocker where some players on older saves would be unable to progress in the Atlas Path.
- Fixed some rare cases where multiplayer sessions could fail to resume correctly after suspending the game on Xbox One.
- Fixed an issue that could cause a blank Galactic Map when joining a multiplayer game while the host was mid-warp.
