One of the best action-RPGs of 2020 is on sale for its lowest price yet right now. Nioh 2, Team Ninja's challenging and engaging game that has drawn comparisons to Dark Souls, is discounted to only $10 at Amazon and Walmart. That's a tremendous deal for a lengthy role-playing game that released less than a year ago. It's also a great time to pick up Nioh 2 if you own a PS5, as a free upgrade with performance and visual enhancements arrives on February 5.

While Nioh is certainly worth playing as well--it was free for PS Plus subscribers in 2019--you don't have to play the original to follow the plot of Nioh 2. Set before the events of the original, Nioh 2 acts as a prequel and places you in the shoes of a nameless mercenary. If you're a fan of challenging action games in the vein of Dark Souls and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, you'll probably enjoy Nioh 2.

It earned an 8/10 in GameSpot's Nioh 2 review. "Ultimately, that excruciating difficulty and the feeling it evokes are baked into Nioh's DNA, though, and its boss fights remain compelling even as they vex and frustrate," critic Mike Epstein wrote. "Though it sometimes feels like a curse as you play, it is a testament that Nioh 2 successfully grabs and holds your complete attention so close for so long."

Nioh 2's free PS5 update arrives alongside the release of The Nioh Collection on February 5. The Nioh Collection compiles both games (remastered for PS5) as well as every piece of DLC for $70.
