Popular webcomic Penny Arcade has collaborated with a number of gaming companies in the past, including Ubisoft and Capcom. Now, one more big-time publisher can be added to that list, as Nintendo announced today that it has commissioned Jerry "Tycho" Holkins and Mike "Gabe" Krahulik to create five original comic panels based on the Legend of Zelda franchise.

Timed for release alongside Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword for the Wii, the first of Penny Arcade's panels arrived today and can be seen on the game's official site. The remaining four panels will be released on a weekly basis.

Designed around Nintendo's Wii Remote Plus (or Wii Remote with MotionPlus accessory), Skyward Sword features a new combat system that approximates one-to-one controller-to-sword motion. Beyond giving Link new ways to cut up the usual assortment of carnivorous plants, disembodied eyeballs, and orcish monsters, the game features new gadgets and abilities for the lithe protagonist to employ.

Skyward Sword is set to hit shelves on November 20. For more on Link's latest adventure, check out GameSpot's recent coverage.
