Nintendo Switch Online To Have Shared Family Plan Option
Lots of Switches all under one roof.
Nintendo has finally unveiled its plans for the Switch online service, complete with cloud saves and some retro games. But what if you own two or three Switches? Nintendo says it will also be offering a family membership, which will allow up to eight accounts on a single membership.
As opposed to a basic membership that's limited to one account, all of the accounts under a family membership can enjoy the benefits, even if they're on different systems. The family plan will cost $35 / £31.49 / AU $55, which is less than the cost of two regular memberships together. You can start creating a family group on May 15 to prepare.
The benefits of the online service include cloud saves, a selection of 20 NES games, and access to online play for all Switch games. Online play for Switch games has been available for free, but that will change in September when the service launches. The single account membership is available for one month (US $4 / £3.49 / AU $6), three months (US $8 / £7 / AU $12), and 12 months (US $20 / £18 / AU $30).
Nintendo has announced 10 retro NES games so far, with the other ten to be announced at a future date. They've undergone some tweaks to make them online-enabled as well. The initial ten are:
- Soccer
- Tennis
- Donkey Kong
- Mario Bros.
- Super Mario Bros.
- Balloon Fight
- Ice Climber
- Dr. Mario
- The Legend of Zelda
- Super Mario Bros. 3
