Nintendo Switch Eshop Adds Four New Games Today

Overcooked: Special Edition launches today.

Update: There's actually a fourth Nintendo Switch game now available on the Eshop that isn't in Nintendo's weekly press release on new game releases. Physical Contact: Speed is a card game that costs $5/£4.49, and while we can't say whether it's any good, its bizarre Eshop description is certainly worth a read.

Original Story: New games for Nintendo Switch continue to roll out on the Eshop. Today brings with it three more, including another very good party game.

The most notable of today's releases is Overcooked: Special Edition. It's a co-op cooking game that sticks you in a wide variety of different kitchens, including those located in (and split across) moving vehicles. Despite the simple controls, cooperation and communication are key as there can be a lot to keep track of if you want to avoid burning your kitchen down. The Special Edition subtitle refers to the inclusion of DLC (adding more levels) that was released for the original version of the game that came out last year, as well as HD Rumble support. It costs $20/£16.

Also new today is Qbics Paint ($5/£4.49), a 3D modeling and painting game. This uses the system's touchscreen to let you sculpt voxel-based models with your fingers, paint them, and then place them in various stock photos (if you so desire).

Finally, this week's obligatory ACA Neo Geo game is Super Sidekicks. It's a soccer game originally released for Neo Geo in 1992, and it features support for two-player multiplayer. As with other Neo Geo games on Switch, it costs $8/£6.29.

These games follow one, Fate/Extella: The Umbral Star, that released for Switch earlier this week. At least two more are scheduled to hit the Eshop tomorrow: Namco Museum (a compilation of games, including Pac-Man Vs.) and Ultra Hyperball.

I won't be buying anything on the Nintendo e-shop because I don't have a Switch. Why don't I have a switch? Because there's none to buy. Nearly 5 months since launch, and no switches in stores anywhere. Ever. /golfclap

Overcooked is brutally repetetive and annoying. The cute-factor wears off within ~3 levels. As a life-long fan of puzzle games and quirky indie titles, thia one is incredibly overrated.

@Zero_Maniac: I have a Neo Geo X and it's a pretty nice little system as a portable and as a home console.

The issue with it was it was kind of hard to come by because Tommo the manufacture got themselves cross-ways with SNK and they (snk) canceled it.

Had Tommo not messed up their relationship with SNK it might have done better.

@Zero_Maniac: True but Neo Geo X didn't have Nintendo games on it.

@jumpaction: If you have some friends to play with, its really fun. Not my favorite game, but it definitely is something you can pick up and play with a group of friends and have a good time.

@Pyrosa: Oh no! :(

What is it about the game that isn't fun? I thought it looked quite charming...

@jumpaction: Specifically, the gameplay is entirely based around repetitively stacking up sequences of ingredients to craft "recipes."

Again... and again... and again.

The local-only MP simply subdivides the repetitive tasks among players, which doesn't add any fun to the activities themselves.

There isn't actually any skill required; just the ability to quickly repeat sequences of actions and juggle the order a bit.

If that's your idea of fun, then dive right in.

@Pyrosa: So it's all about multi-tasking and prioritizing queues of tasks?

@jumpaction: it's really fun, don't listen to this guy. It's only not fun if you don't have friends.

@darthrevenx: You visit this site everyday and just happen to conveniently miss the one where they just answered that very question. There was this little game called Splatoon 2 that was just released along side a big shipment of Switchs to go along with its release. I saw 4 at Target yesterday, 6 at Walmart on release day and they had 15 at the Gamespot I called for my nephew on Monday.

Qbics would've been better if they allowed your own taken pictures.
