Now Playing: GS News Update: Nintendo Switch Accessories From Hori Leak

A number of Nintendo Switch accessories from third-party peripheral company Hori have seemingly leaked, just days prior to the system's full reveal.

As shared on Twitter by user DroidXAce (via NeoGAF user yoonshik), most noteworthy of these may be a 150 Euro (about $158) arcade stick. These are primarily associated with fighting games, of which none have been announced for Switch so far. If accurate, this may suggest that at least one is on the way. Nintendo plans to showcase many of the system's games during presentations on Thursday and Friday.

Other accessories from Hori include a dock for charging two sets of joy-con controllers, analog stick grips, trigger attachments, a stand, an ethernet adapter, and a car charger. There's also a Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild skin set for decorating the joy-con grip and system dock. Additionally, Hori will offer its own wired version of the standard game controller with what looks like a monstrosity of a d-pad.

You can see more photos of these accessories in the gallery above and here. Another accessory company, Snakebyte, has already officially announced some of its Switch peripherals.

    The last Nintendo console that i bought was the Nintendo Game Cube so I really wanted get the Switch in march. Really hoping that Nintendo wow me with the Nintendo Switch Specs and Games and I'm worry that I'm gonna be disappointed with both things. And ended up not buying it because of that. You can only hope.

    This is going to be console peripheral hell. All the accessories that will come out for this thing is going to be insane. I remember when owning a console was a simple endeavor. Now it's become an endless money sink.

    Wait..The joy-cons have the ability to be charged? So does that mean when connected to the console and on portable, this thing could potentially have three batteries to run off of?

    Avatar image for r31ya

    @rubberhose_: it's a wireless controller. so yeah, each have it's own battery.

    But i imagine that it'll be charged together with the screen on the dock

    @r31ya: yea I realized after I posted that my observation was a little foolish, I knew they were wireless..Duh. Battery. But I hadn't considered this thing having a potential three batteries to run off of while in portable mode.

    That D-pad is not a "monstrosity", it looks awesome. It reminds me of some of SEGAs older D-pads (not Dreamcast). The biggest problem with most controllers is their D-pad. Microsoft has never made a good one. Sony's newest is probably the best standard pad, but this one looks good. Very responsive looking. I've always been better at fighting games with the pad ( I was a poor kid, couldn't play as many arcade games as I'd like) and this one, I like.

    @streetmagik:

    The Xbox One controller has a very comfortable and responsive D-pad, have you tried it?

    Avatar image for streetmagik
    streetmagik

    @doctor_mg: Yes, I have every Xbox system and controller (basic first party) ever released. The only reason I didn't purchase Virtua Fighter 5 last gen on Xbox is because of the D-pad. It's stiff (they even make that hard plastic clicking sound) and uncomfortable compared to the Last few PlayStation pads. SEGA had some (floating point) D-pads similar to this Hori controller on a couple Saturn controllers that I really liked. Don't get me wrong, the Xbox and Nintendo D-pads get the job done (there are much worse things to worry about), but if I'm being nitpicky, well that's how I feel.

    @streetmagik:

    Well the 360 Dpad was atrocious, but the D-pad on the Xbox One is significantly better. Almost as great as the Gamecube D-pad. I think that the PS4 D-pad is good, but I don't like the separation for fighting games. I've always enjoyed Playstation D-pads for games like Tony Hawk where singular precision is required, but for a game like Virtua Fighter I prefer the Dreamcast or Gamecube Dpads. The Saturn D-pad (and Genesis) always felt a bit to mushy for me.

    streetmagik

    @doctor_mg: I'm a SEGA fanboy for life, but the last thing I'd call the Dreamcast controller, is comfortable. The PlayStation D-pad is not individual buttons. If you take it apart, you see it's one piece with a cover separating them. To each their own though. That's why companies have multiple options and third party controllers. But no, I'm not a fan of the Xbox 1 D-pad. I've used it a bit since launch, but for me, it could be much better. My personal opinion, and yeah, like buttholes, we all have 'em.

    Avatar image for doctor_mg
    Doctor_MG

    @streetmagik:

    I didn't say individual buttons, I mean the separation between the d-pad. The center is completely empty, even though it is just one solid unit. I don't like that, it isn't comfortable for me.

    The Dreamcast controller was alright, but I liked the D-pad, just like I liked the Gamecube Dpad and the N64 D-pad. The Dreamcast controller was really comfortable when I was younger, but now with adult hands it just hurts (similar to the Nintendo 64 controller).

    I will say this though, the position of the PS4 D-pad makes it much more comfortable.

    Avatar image for streetmagik
    streetmagik

    @doctor_mg: My bad about the ps pad. Like I said in the earlier post, I'm just nitpicking. The Xbox 1 controller is still miles better than almost every other controller ever made. Some people prefer the analog sticks offset, some don't. It is, what it is.

    Avatar image for doctor_mg
    Doctor_MG

    @streetmagik:

    Its cool. I get ya, it is all a preference thing. Except I do think that the Xbox One D-pad is objectively better than the Xbox 360's lol. Just because the 360's was renown for being pretty terrible.

    @doctor_mg: I was going to post a thumbs up emoji. Is there not one? I spent five minutes looking, and now, I'm just confused. Apparently there is a thing called the Unicode Consortium, that decides what universal emojis everyone can choose from. Did they not make a thumbs up, but made a poop emoji? I already have so many games to play, now I have to research this. Anyway, thumbs up.

    I have feelings that Wii U 2 will have only Wii U 1 games and maybe one two new games tomorrow will have a lot of disappointed fans like E3 2015 and E3 2016

    Nintendo must quit hardware so they can focus on their outstanding games, going multiplat.

    Avatar image for youre_a_sheep

    @FBohler: Everything about the Switch screams that Nintendo wants to transition console gamers to portable gaming, so I expect this to likely be their last console in favor of focusing entirely on the DS.

    Avatar image for The-unDyIng
    The-unDyIng

    @youre_a_sheep: If that is the case and that is what they want to do in YOUR words (Nintendo wants to transition Console Gamers to portable gaming), then it will fail. If they switch there primary focus to a more handheld gaming platform in the future then they will more then likely lose a lot of there fan base that buy there products to sit on the couch with a game console hooked up to there TV. No I think they are simply testing waters here, if this is a success i do not think they will switch entirely to handheld in the long run, that would risk alienating a very large portion of there customers.

    Besides if the Switch does work out good and with how tech is advancing these days, who is to say they wont make a new version 3 or 4 years down the road that is much more potent then the Switch it self. If there is one thing a person should never do is underestimate how fast technology moves forward these days. Where as on the other hand if the Switch is a big failure then we simply cannot predict what Nintendo will do outside of being stubborn like they tend to be in a lot of ways. Beyond that they don't feel the need to directly compete with Microsoft or Sony, which i have no problem with my self.

    I think people should at the very least wait and see how the N-Switch Plays/Performs before throwing judgment around.

    Avatar image for FBohler
    FBohler

    @The-unDyIng: You're aware that portable gaming is Nintendo's milk cow ATM, aren't you?

    Tech evolves really fast, and yet the NS is very very likely to be weaker than 4 y.o. Xbox One.

    Sure, we'll know more about the console this week, but you can predict how strong it is by looking at Zelda's screenshots. The game is NS's flagship, but looks totally like early PS3/X360 game.

    Avatar image for doctor_mg
    Doctor_MG

    @FBohler:

    The game isn't NS's flagship though. Zelda: Breath of the Wild is a Wii U title ported to the Switch. You can't really look at the recently remastered Skyrim and say "that is how strong the PS4 is", because there are many games on the PS4 that look much better than Skyrim Remastered (like the Witcher 3).

    @Bread_or_Decide: I only have one ps3 and one ps4 controller, just as I only have one pad for my pc. But yeah, if Sony did developp crappy controllers, I would have no other choice but to buy a second controller of a different kind.

    Avatar image for Bread_or_Decide
    Bread_or_Decide

    @xolivierx: Wow Sony makes some of the worst controllers in the business. They are less comfortable and those analog sticks are just the worst. Xbox makes the most comfortable controllers and Nintendo has the best D pads.

    Hori makes good controllers, although hopefully they won't make these ones too big. Bought the FPS controller but it still doesn't work well for me because I can't quite press directly down on the triggers, so it often doesn't register the press. Still works fine as a wired controller, so I use it when my DS4 dies and I'm in the middle of a match.

    God, I hope these new DS4's add wired support for the original PS4's. It's really stupid how corporations use basic features they took away as ammunition for a new, more expensive model of whatever.
