Now Playing: No More Heroes: Travis Strikes Again - PAX West Announcement Trailer

Nintendo's Nindies Summer 2017 Showcase has just wrapped up, and as expected, it delivered a look at quite a few indie games for Switch. That included numerous announcements of upcoming games headed to the platform.

Some of these games we already knew about, like SteamWorld Dig 2, which was revealed for Switch during a Showcase stream this spring. However, there were plenty more that we did not. The biggest of the bunch was No More Heroes: Travis Strikes Again, a sequel to the original NMH from Suda51 and Grasshopper Manufacture.

No Caption Provided

Other notable announcements included Super Meat Boy Forever, Shovel Knight: King of Cards, and Kentucky Route Zero: TV Edition (which will include all acts, including the as-of-yet unreleased fifth one). Below, you'll find a list of all the Switch games that were featured in the Showcase along with their release windows.

  • Super Meat Boy Forever -- 2018
  • Shovel Knight: King of Cards -- early 2018
  • Mom Hid My Game (also on 3DS) -- late 2017
  • Golf Story -- September 2017
  • Floor Kids -- holiday 2017
  • Wulver Blade -- September 2017
  • Poly Bridge -- Holiday 2017
  • Kentucky Route Zero: TV Edition -- 2018
  • Earth Atlantis -- Fall 2017
  • Next Up Hero -- 2018
  • Steamworld Dig 2 -- September 21
  • Malaka (3D Action game) -- 2018
  • Yono and the Celestial Elephants -- October 2017
  • Dragon Marked for Death -- Winter
  • Battle Chef Brigade -- holiday 2017
  • Morphies Law -- Winter
  • Sausage Sports Club -- Fall 2017
  • Light Fingers -- early 2018
  • Nine Parchments -- holiday 2017
  • No More Heroes: Travis Strikes Again -- 2018

No More Heroes 3 is a pretty huge announcement. I actually didn't like the first one, but have liked all their games from the second one on.

Someone says something bad about the switch, and everyone jumps down his throat.

The switch is not a good console. I've got one. The only game I would wanna play on it is mariokart and I already have that on the WiiU. At least now I can play online anywhere right? Nope, because it refuses to work with my internet tethering with my phone. Apparently that only works with some carriers.

Other than that, what games does it have? Zelda is boring for someone who doesn't love zelda. And then what? Bomberman was lame and over priced. Tetris? Overpriced. ****. Street fighter two is 50 bucks! For a 20 year old fighting game! But yes. The switch is amazing. There's also minecraft and rocket league coming. More ports. Yay. And now all these games where not one of these even remotely appeals to me.

Yes Mario and Rabbids looks cool, if really random. I am an xcom fan so I am intrigued, but even then it's been over a year since the console release and it now has its first game worth the price of the system (even breath of the wild was on WiiU so that doesn't count).

And Nintendo has made every mistake they've ever made releasing this console and yet everyone is just forgiving and okay with it. They didn't make enough for the demand, the battery life is lower than its ever been for any handheld ever. The controllers are uncomfortable. And even after a year there really isn't all that much worth playing. Yes things are finally getting better than they were a couple months ago but the fact that you are all willing to turn a blind eye to all this bullshit, like how even now there's still fucking nothing about virtual console? You realize Nintendo is only taking this long to release anything cause they're waiting to figure out how much they can rip people off for these old games. It's all about taking advantage of people and making as much money as possible for the least amount of effort. All you Nintendo fanboys are wasting your time caring about a company that cares nothing for you. The proof is in how much more expensive all the multiplat games are on switch, ten bucks more expsensice at least. Isn't that just the Nintendo way. That and never having meaningful sales.

@WingcommanderIV: My issues with the Switch are the stupid sealed proprietary battery and insanely expensive controllers which also have sealed proprietary batteries, or a lame $35 add on just to make them use normal batteries.

The system if not for that would be pretty cool though. It's real last gen + in a handheld, which of course makes for a perfectly good system on a TV too.

And Zelda..."if you don't like Zelda"? What does that even mean? I haven't liked a lot of the recent Zelda games, but Breath of the Wild is nothing like them. It's more like an alternate Universe Zelda where the series continued on from the first two games rather than going off on this increasingly lame tangent.

<<<The proof is in how much more expensive all the multiplat games are on switch, ten bucks more expsensice at least>>>

Not universally true, but regardless you realize they're on cartridge, right? Zelda's like >13GB, and I assume other games have to be pretty huge too. It costs more to do cartridge games, so I've been fine with the prices so far.

@wolfpup7: what the hell are you talking about? When I go on the Nintendo e-store and buy street fighter 2 for 50 bucks they are not going to send me a cartridge.

Who the hell buys physical anymore? And how is that possibly an arguement for how expensive every game is in their e-shop compared to on other consoles?

Also, I happen to be a person who enjoys real narratives in games like mass effect or Witcher. I find zelda games too simplistic. On top of that I don't love solving puzzles. So zelda really kinda doesn't appeal to me. That said I'm also a completionist and behind on the franchise, and it's not like I can play any of the previous games on switch without a virtual console. so because of that one reason, because of my OCD keeping me from playing breath of the wild, my switch has been a paper weight for a year now, with no end to that in sight.

I even paid 80 bucks for the mariokart that I already had on WiiU with all the dlc. And I couldn't even play it outnin public because it doesn't work with my carrier. So again, complete paper weight, and Nintendo has done nothing to improve that after a year.

Oh finally, and I hate to add this something so controversial when someone has already liked my comment, but to have purchases transfer from one console to another, and then not have them transfer to the next console for no good reason but to screw people is such a carnal sin to my OCD brain Nintendo might as well have just pulled out their dicks and fucked me up the ass. I was even willing to swallow the dollar fee on WiiU. That was just a cumshot to the face, not a full ass reaming.

Anyone with the slightest common sense?

@wolfpup7: lol. Grandpa. Stop living in the 90s before steam and GOG and Xbox Live. Clearly your opinion on this matter is invalid to me. Move on sir to someone who cares about your silly obsession with physical possessions. Like any of it matter when you die, or like your cartridge is going to fit in the next generation of the console when meanwhile if they do it right all digital content should stay with your account forever like any good digital distribution service.

Oh and I forgot to mention comixology under the list of digital distribution services making physical media archaic.

@wolfpup7: excuse me? So what you're saying is the Nintendo switch was a terrible purchase and it's my fault for buying one?

Wow. What a terrible fanboy you are. I'm an OCD completionist. What part of that don't you understand? I own every console. Clearly you're some weird kid who only gets what his parents buy him, but I never even asked a question so yet again I really don't know what the hell you're talking about but you can't tell me what to do dude.

And I don't know what any of that has to do with Nintendo's lack of a virtual console. I was just supposed to predict that they wouldn't have one. Besides all of this was me defending the other guy who you all were calling an idiot for saying anything bad about the switch. The fact I've gotten you to specifically tell me I never should have bought one, now potentially calling me

An idiot for buying one and even wanting to be a fan, and I think I've made my point and that I win.

@wolfpup7: after I went through reasons on why the Switch has failed to provide any value for me, and thus defend the other gentleman's negativity towards the Switch at least enough to make it clear he's not an idiot, your response was "Not sure why you'd brag about your inability to make good decisions." you're right, it probably wasn't a good decision to buy a switch. A lot of decisions I make because my OCD compulsion are bad decisions. I'm just glad I was able to get over my addiction to collecting physical things, something I find too prevalent in geek culture. Spending lots and lots of money on things that just sit on a shelf and gather dust. More things require more space which costs more money and more time cleaning. And for what? To stare at these things. Touch them? It's all pointless. What matter is experiences. I have a digital library of over 700 games. Every time I get a new computer I don't have to hunt out old CDs to reinstall everything, I type in my account and all 300 games are right there waiting for me. They follow me where ever I go. My Xbox breaks? When I get a new one all my games and save data is all right there saved to my account for all time. And as Xbox games become backwards compatible on new systems they magically appear in my library without any additional cost many of which I never got to play the first time around. When I buy an iPad I have a library of 60,000 comic books that fits into my backpack and I can access anywhere in the world at anytime and read exactly what I want to read when I want to read it. when you said it was "logical" to buy physical and not digital I knew we just couldn't agree on anything because we are fundamentally at a crossroads on our belief on what "logical" even means. It's like trying to argue with a trump supporter.

I am willing to admit though I may have been unnecessarily rude at certain points. Working nights coupled with the rise of this "fake news" has given me this angry fire that takes over whenever I try to defend something online.

Hurray for indie games. I mean I'm already into them but my big problem is that a lot of them don't really fit will on PC. Like I'd rather play them on a portable because they're generally more friendly to having only short bursts of time to play. I use my Switch in portable mode an awful lot, so indies on Switch are a real good fit for me.

Nothing really significant here at all.

Don't get me wrong No More Heroes is a great game but has 0 mass market appeal.

Same for Shovel Knight and Super Meat Boy even though I love them.

Switch is starting to lose steam fast. It may top Wii-U numbers but just barely if this only things it has coming in the near future.

And No Metroid is not going to drive mass market sales and Pokemon is too far off to make a difference right now. Even then with the high cost of the system and a free-ish alternative (Pokemon Go) Parents are going to triple think buying a Switch.

Even super Mario odyssey looks god awful. I've never played a Mario game thinking "God I wish I could walk around a realistic looking New York." That has nothing to do with Mario. And I couldn't care less about hats.

@WingcommanderIV:

Who cares, Switch is fine, great system - plenty of games regardless if its multi-plat or exclusive, Mario Odyssey looks great, system isnt running out of steam, and Indies are better then most AAA acclaimed titles. Nobody cares, I enjoy the Switch, dirt cheap, just a system, just a toy a hobby nothing more. People buy physical copies all the time nobody wants to have pure digital, and what does death have to do with "physical obsession" you are way off. Don't like the system no big deal, I have no issue with charger (have a power bank) nor online play nor the controllers bother me, joy-cons are fine, power bank keeps system charged, and I dont do blind loyalty, I'm older...I buy what I want, and I enjoy what I want...comments online=are the lowest form of communication (all of us here) none of this matters, Switch is fine, new games look great, the Etrian Odysseys, Fire Emblems, Pokemons, Indies, Disgaea 5, Persona/Shin Megami Tensei, Metroid, Kirbys, Smash Bros, Mario titles, Xenoblade Chronicles 2, Hollow Knight cant wait, Axiom Verge portable, Cave Story+, and Binding of Isaac: AFterbirth+, I dont care if its on Steam, or other devices...point is I want it on this portable system, and I'd rather have a 200GB Micro SDXC and have a variety of games a mix of physical copy & digital. I dont care if someone thinks "oh you need to justify a purchase" or blind brand loyalty, or fanboyism...I didnt even know what those terms meant just alittle while ago, I dont keep up with internet/social media trends, I often go months, long stretch's without reading a single comment, no hate here, no jealousy, just opinion (and if Wolfpup's opinion is invalid, so is yours) you dont get to say what is good, or what is bad (only for you, not everyone else) I am ok with the battery life, joy-con controller, and over-priced accessories, why ? I dont need them all, I can buy them slowly down the road, and OFTEN-times I get hand-me-downs (From cousin) you know the trust-fund type, that buys, and re-sells or gives away alot of crap. So I get his sloppy seconds when it comes to hardware & software. I am enjoying the Switch, just as I enjoy the New 2DS XL (cause I haven't owned a Nintendo handheld since GBA in 1998 - my high school years) I've enjoyed PS consoles, Microsoft Xbox consoles, PSP, PS Vita Slim (which I also currently own) PS4 Pro, Wii U, X360, PC (Asus Desktop), New 2DS XL, Switch, Tablet (Samsung Galaxy Tab S2), and (like most) a smart-phone. I own a variety of devices, and my Switch works fine for both local & out in public. Mario Odyssey looks fine, Splatoon 2 runs fine, MK 8 Deluxe I am enjoying with GF & nephew local play. System works fine for me (expanded memory + screen protector + Pro Controller + Anker Power-bank/charger 20100mAh) 4 purchases, 1 of which works for multiple devices. So to each their own, not like any of this matters, you log off sites like this, and go right back to your games...nothing changes peoples minds (esp comments online) Switch isn't even 6 months old (Barely this September) people are saying "it hasn't updated or changed or improved in a year" um...the system is barely half a year old. Don't like it cool, no biggie - its just not for you, nothing appealing for you - I rarely play games for narrative (if it has a strong story, cool) but if not no biggie, I hate sports, racing, and beat-em-up/fighters, and I prefer platformers & mobile/handheld devices.

The system costed me $280 (dirt cheap) w/ rebates. No complaints here. No system is perfect, but why does it have to be "buyers remorse" or "naitivity" or "blind brand loyalty" ever stop to think, its ALOT simpler then that ? just a guy who plays games, who enjoys a system I dont give a flying shit if its an Ouya, a Sega system, a-whatever, if it happens to be Nintendo, cool - more Mario, More Metroid, more Kirby, more Donkey Kong, more Pokemon, More Monster Hunter, more indies & multi-plats (people talk as if multiplats on a portable/console hybrid is a bad thing) its not a perfect system, JUST another system that I own & enjoy...if you dont...oh well, doesn't affect me when I press that little[x] in the upper right hand corner. Enjoy or dont. As for who buys physical copies (millions do) otherwise stores like Gamers Paradise & Gamestop would not exist. But there is no reason to debate, argue, sling insults, but I will say this...no hate, no jealousy here...but I will say I'd rather be happy & naive vs "informed" and unsatisfied, its a hobby, its just plastic toys nothing more. These game systems (all of them) and dont pretend Nintendo does horrible business practices & has greed and the OTHER companies dont (thats a joke in itself) THEY ALL DO, get over it. I am not wasting my time caring for a company, wtf does playing a game have to do with "caring for a company" I dont even THINK about the company/producer/developer of a game, for all I Care I dont even KNOW who develops which games for which devices, I buy what I want, when I want, play what I want, enjoy the game for what it is > resell game, make alittle back, rinse n repeat (onto next game) this has nothing to do with "caring for a company" the **** I care about Nintendo ? and their quarterly revenue, or yearly profit sharing ? lol all I care about is if I get more Kirbys, more Hollow Knights, more Zeldas, more puzzle-solving, more colorful, nintendo games on a system I can take with me to take a shit, downstairs, upstairs, outside, on the road, SINGLE offline, single-player campaigns. Thats all I want, I got with the Switch exactly what I want, if other people are unsatisfied...oh well, not my problem . You have plenty of other devices to play if you dont like the Switch, I do -its a good system and thats it. Disagree no biggie, nobody is right OR wrong, me nor you - our opinions are not more "valid" then the next, but dont sit here and act like mr.high&mighty, anyone that likes nintendo is a fanboy and its "blind brand loyalty" no, I have money...a % of disposable income, I WANT a specific game, on a specific system, period. It doesn't go any further then "this is what I enjoy" if you disagree, or dont understand it so be it, Mario Odyssey looks fine, BOTW is great, Switch runs fine for me, the online aspects & the system itself (no freezes, no hiccups, no major issues) You are different no hate - no big deal everyone is different, to each their own.

@Itzsfo0: for the record I only posted because I was coming to the defense of someone who everyone was jumping on and calling an idiot because he had problems with his switch. Saying he was dumb and the switch was amazing. I disagree.

You even admit in your post that you are (not to be offensive) but reasonably ignorant as to trends in gaming. You say you don't care about the fact most of those games are on other systems, well that's fine but I own those games already on those other systems. And they were a lot cheaper then. A lot, like 60-75% cheaper at points. So it's awesome that you are getting value from playing these games, but just cause you don't know better doesn't make it a selling point for the system. I'm glad you've gotten value out of it, I don't deny there a plenty of good things about the system, and I have had some cool impromptu mariokart battles and Tetris battles just in public with a random person at a train station or on a bus. Maybe like 3 such occasions in the year I've had the system. Not really worth the money, not even worth lugging it around everyday and remembering to charge it once a week but it's the only use I get out of it and it's better than nothing. I'm sorry for wanting more. And I'm sorry the console isn't giving me the same enjoyment it's giving you.

Also, finally, about that list of games you gave. Come on now, you know most of those are BS right. We got the stupid fighting game version of Pokémon. We got the mobile version of fire emblem. The metroid game we wanna play is gonna be on 3DS. That's hardly the killer line up you say it is. Disgea 5 example is cool, but again as a completionist I have to play the other games first and it's not like they have a virtual console, after a year of releas. If they'd just done that, a competent virtual console like the Wii and WiiU I would have been placated. But even now, after I've left the issue alone for months, there's still no word.

That's nice and all, but I'm pretty sure Nintendo fans want to hear more about AAA titles especially third party ones. Heck, even last gen ones would do.

@Barighm: I'd rather have a good indie tbh: Golf Story, Stardew, Steamworld... Have you seen the current state of AAA titles? Just because a game is a '3rd party AAA title' doesn't make it good. Im happy with M+R, Xenoblade, Fire Emblem, DBZ etc

@Barighm: Honestly, I'm fine with what's out and what's coming out later. I used to think that I wanted AAA titles on Nintendo platforms, but here's the thing... I never bought the AAA titles that were out on Nintendo platforms. I always bought them on Sony and MS machines. Maybe when Nintendo decides to stop banking on gimmicks and actually putting some raw horsepower in their machines, I'll make Nintendo my stop for AAA titles. As it stands, the Switch is fine where it is.

@Barighm: Actually I'm quite fine with 1st party Nintendo games and Indies. Lord know any 3rd party game will look and perform better on ps4,xb1. And most people with a switch have a ps4 or xb1...or both. Indies dont really matter as they generally run and look the same one all platforms.

@chiefwiggum16: Exactly, and nintendo is doing great in acknowledging that. If big publishers were to hop on switch we would just get garbage shovelware and trash ports.
