Nintendo lays out Q1, Q2 slate

Publisher's latest release schedule for includes Ninja Gaiden DS and Okami Wii for March 25, Wii Fit in Q2.

Earlier this week, Nintendo worked many of its most faithful into a fit--for a second time--with news that the critically acclaimed Wii fighter Super Smash Bros. Brawl has been delayed to March 9, as opposed to its previously revised February 10 date. However, that revision hasn't stopped the Masters of Mario from laying out their lineup on the Wii and DS for the first half of 2008.

Wii Fit, which was released on December 1 in Japan and has thus far held a nebulous 2008 release date in North America, will now arrive sometime in Q2. March 25 will carry special import for Nintendo gamers, as both Tecmo's Ninja Gaiden Dragon Sword and Ready at Dawn's Wii port of Okami are expected to hit retail.

Nintendo's lineup, listed in full below, carries several other new release dates, including confirmation of Myst for the DS arriving in March, Aksys Games' Castle of Shikigami III for the Wii arriving April 15, Atlus' Baroque on the Wii for February 26, and Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed: Altair's Chronicles for February.

Right now the Wii and DS seems to be the systems with the most games coming out. So stop whinning about it! People act as if PS1 and 2 games were all marvelous (I'm taking these two in my example since they were the systems with the largest amount of games in the last two gens) when actually most of them were crap. Same with this list and it will always be the problem with the system on top: it has a lot of games but most of them suck. Which is not a bad thing actually, we may not buy this crap, but a lot of people will and it shows that a system is "healthy". Being healthy is being profitable, so more and more developers will want to join in and the chances that we get AAA games increase. The PS2 had a larger amount of good games than it's competitors, as the PS1 before it and why is that? Simply because there were a lot more games out for these systems.

I could care less about the lineup. Why doesnt nintendo tell everyone when we can expect the wii consoles back in stores. What good are the games when there is nothing to play it on?

Where is Tales of Symphonia 2, Spore, and Mushroom Men? AND FOR THE LOVE OF HUMANITY, WHEN ARE THEY GOING TO RELEASE A F-ZERO ON THE WII?!?!?!?!?!?! That would be sooo cool especially with Onine Play!!!!! I'd leave you all in the dust with my Pink Stingray (Official 1st name until they changed it to Fire Stingray).

Even though allot of those games are crap, I have to admit I'm impressed with the amount of probably-decent games for both systems.

webbut: Yeah, that's only if you count popular stuff and you have a narrow mind when it comes to games. Anyways, this list is great! Endless Ocean, Baroque, Super Smash, Professor Layton, Wii Fit, Mario Kart, it sure seems like I'm going to be occupied! ^_^

Well seeing as how Smash is going to easily last me a few months and wii fit and Mario kart will be out after along with Dragonquest....I think summers accually going to be fun. heck and won't ps3 owners finally get that metal gear solid they wanted. Looks like a good summer if the 360 comes out with something. Can't think of anything though.

I'm looking forward to playing the Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles for the DS. .......What happened to the Wii version of the game though? I read it was coming out in March but I don't see it in the lineup. Loved to original game though.

Okami is a perfect port for Wii, using your controller to paint and interact with the environment may be even better then the original.

Hmmm...so I'm with Captainnintendo, There's Baroque from Atlus and Opoona along with the obvious No More Heroes and SSMB. Other than that, though quite an extensive list, it's not got much bang to it.

Unfortunately there isn't a lot on their that im impressed with. I know Nintendo can do better. Hopefully they will do a Kid Icarus sequel in the near future, or an actual Donkey Kong adventure game rather than a music or racing one.

Nintendo's dropping the ball on Mario Kart Wii, please give us some information Nintendo. We have absolutely no clue what the game is going to be like. I guess they aren't focusing too much on Brawl to give Kart any attention.

Huge list of games. A lot of it is crap, but at least 8-10 titles on that list I'll probably get. Games like No More Heroes, SSBB, The World Ends with You, Mario Kart, Advance Wars: Days of Ruin, Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Rings of Fate, Naruto: Ninja Destiny, Ninja Gaiden Dragon Sword and maybe a couple others will be in my collection. At least Nintendo isn't skimping on the games. People wanted more games and here they are.

This list really isn't that bad considering we are still in January and I'm sure there are plenty of games we will see that aren't on this list simply because there isn't a release date set for them yet. I'm fairly pleased with this list because it does have some great games in there that I know alot of people will pick up. And I don't mean the normal titles such as Mario Kart Wii, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, and the big hitters from Nintendo, but I'm looking at involvement from other companies such as Lucas Arts, Square Enix, 2K Sports/Games, Hudson, Capcom, Konami, and Tecmo just to name a few. There is alot of potential for some great games and I'm excited about a few games on the list like Force Unleashed, Dong King Presents: Prizefighter, No More Heroes, and The Masked Queen and the Tower of Mirrors. If games like these do well this opens up alot for other companies to realize exactly what can be done on the Wii and set the standard for great Wii games. Let's hope these companies put the effort needed into these titles and bring even more great titles to the Wii. Nintendo dominated 2007, let's see if they can dominate 2008.
