Nintendo lays out Q1, Q2 slate

Publisher's latest release schedule for includes Ninja Gaiden DS and Okami Wii for March 25, Wii Fit in Q2.

Earlier this week, Nintendo worked many of its most faithful into a fit--for a second time--with news that the critically acclaimed Wii fighter Super Smash Bros. Brawl has been delayed to March 9, as opposed to its previously revised February 10 date. However, that revision hasn't stopped the Masters of Mario from laying out their lineup on the Wii and DS for the first half of 2008.

Wii Fit, which was released on December 1 in Japan and has thus far held a nebulous 2008 release date in North America, will now arrive sometime in Q2. March 25 will carry special import for Nintendo gamers, as both Tecmo's Ninja Gaiden Dragon Sword and Ready at Dawn's Wii port of Okami are expected to hit retail.

Nintendo's lineup, listed in full below, carries several other new release dates, including confirmation of Myst for the DS arriving in March, Aksys Games' Castle of Shikigami III for the Wii arriving April 15, Atlus' Baroque on the Wii for February 26, and Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed: Altair's Chronicles for February.

Right now the Wii and DS seems to be the systems with the most games coming out. So stop whinning about it! People act as if PS1 and 2 games were all marvelous (I'm taking these two in my example since they were the systems with the largest amount of games in the last two gens) when actually most of them were crap. Same with this list and it will always be the problem with the system on top: it has a lot of games but most of them suck. Which is not a bad thing actually, we may not buy this crap, but a lot of people will and it shows that a system is "healthy". Being healthy is being profitable, so more and more developers will want to join in and the chances that we get AAA games increase. The PS2 had a larger amount of good games than it's competitors, as the PS1 before it and why is that? Simply because there were a lot more games out for these systems.

there is too many bad games on the wii that's make me wish i bout 360

Avatar image for Toddbu

I could care less about the lineup. Why doesnt nintendo tell everyone when we can expect the wii consoles back in stores. What good are the games when there is nothing to play it on?

Avatar image for fredwv

Why the big delay with Wii Fit??? It's about the only thing I'm looking forward to on this system.

Avatar image for nini200

Where is Tales of Symphonia 2, Spore, and Mushroom Men? AND FOR THE LOVE OF HUMANITY, WHEN ARE THEY GOING TO RELEASE A F-ZERO ON THE WII?!?!?!?!?!?! That would be sooo cool especially with Onine Play!!!!! I'd leave you all in the dust with my Pink Stingray (Official 1st name until they changed it to Fire Stingray).

Avatar image for hattorihanzo32

where is rygar

Avatar image for VenkmanPHD

why does nintendo suck???

Avatar image for bruno_fmenedes

Even though allot of those games are crap, I have to admit I'm impressed with the amount of probably-decent games for both systems.

Avatar image for andres836

wheres tales of symphonia 2 that will be the best game besides SSBB and Mario Kart Wii, though i will probabaly get baroque, star wars force unleashed, and final fantasy for the WII

Avatar image for Platyphyllum

webbut: Yeah, that's only if you count popular stuff and you have a narrow mind when it comes to games. Anyways, this list is great! Endless Ocean, Baroque, Super Smash, Professor Layton, Wii Fit, Mario Kart, it sure seems like I'm going to be occupied! ^_^

Avatar image for webbut

This Wii List Is "The Suck" only 2 good games smash and No Moar Heros

Avatar image for Karjah

Well seeing as how Smash is going to easily last me a few months and wii fit and Mario kart will be out after along with Dragonquest....I think summers accually going to be fun. heck and won't ps3 owners finally get that metal gear solid they wanted. Looks like a good summer if the 360 comes out with something. Can't think of anything though.

Avatar image for Foolio1

Umm, why do they have Nitro Bike listed as March? It's out now.

Avatar image for heroofwinds1

i have a wii and there are a lot of games in that list i want.the problem is that iam from europe..So i think that i should wait to see when these games will be released here because it will surely take more time to see them in europe...

Avatar image for mariokart64fan

mariokart yehawww ssbb and a speed racer ! omg also brothers in arms and alone in the dark wii sound cool ... ds has a sweet line up to

Avatar image for R3DN1N3

I'm looking forward to playing the Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles for the DS. .......What happened to the Wii version of the game though? I read it was coming out in March but I don't see it in the lineup. Loved to original game though.

Avatar image for Nerissa

Okami is a perfect port for Wii, using your controller to paint and interact with the environment may be even better then the original.

Avatar image for Serraph105

masternorris its not like you play any of them whats it bother you if they crank out enough games to suit everybodys needs?

Avatar image for masternorris

ugghh SSBB and Okami will be great but thats really all they need to relesase for the wii in the summer i wish they would stop making so many filler crap games

Avatar image for hattorihanzo32

neva played okami on ps2 cant wait to play it on wii hope they make lil improvements though

Avatar image for kingqaz

March is going to be good to the Wii. SSBB, Okami, and Opoona.

Avatar image for Tycerion
Tycerion I'm with Captainnintendo, There's Baroque from Atlus and Opoona along with the obvious No More Heroes and SSMB. Other than that, though quite an extensive list, it's not got much bang to it.

Avatar image for Captainintendo

Unfortunately there isn't a lot on their that im impressed with. I know Nintendo can do better. Hopefully they will do a Kid Icarus sequel in the near future, or an actual Donkey Kong adventure game rather than a music or racing one.

Avatar image for Nintendus21

The DS only has a few good games coming. It's looking weak to me right now.

Avatar image for heyhamburgerpim

OMG!!! Can't wait until "Diary Girl" comes out in March! BEST Q1 EVERRRR! What a bunch of tripe. Howzabout a Kid Icarus Wii? Give us old schoolers something to do.

Avatar image for SonicDBZRacer

SSBB >_>

Avatar image for vatterott

Where's GH DS?

Avatar image for bgres077

Nintendo's dropping the ball on Mario Kart Wii, please give us some information Nintendo. We have absolutely no clue what the game is going to be like. I guess they aren't focusing too much on Brawl to give Kart any attention.

Avatar image for Nintendoman3

i didnt see anything good on the DS list, besides assassins creed. I love my DS but its now pretty much dead with no more good games comin out. The Wii looks very promising though.

Avatar image for yohan7

WOW, i am amazed at how many games are being released.

Avatar image for CodyTG

Mario Kart..... yessss

Avatar image for lamprey263

meh, not too great of a list in my opinion (though, there's handful of promising titles in there), but hey, at least Nintendo is letting us know what's what early, unlike some other big giants in the gaming industry

Avatar image for Leick3

sigh why do all the stupid ports end op on the wii, oh well its not like its hurts gamres really, if people dont buy that crap then they wont make it Well i see some im getting first and foremost SSBB and mario kart also star wars force unleashed looks sweet, maybe ninja gaiden, final fantasy chronicles, lego indiana jones, assassins creed:altairs chronicles

Avatar image for clownofpoetry

I don't see Bully anywhere on that list.

Avatar image for decrot

wow, there are alot of crap games for the wii coming up. i only see 2 worth getting, NMH and SSBB. I would say 3 but i bet my life that Mario Kart will be pushed to Xmas or next year.

Avatar image for calvinx6

Too much good DS games at the beginning of the year, i am going to go broke.

Avatar image for TalesofRaGnArOk

Where is Final Fantasy Tactics : Advance 2? It'll have to last me until I can afford Ninja Gaiden: DS

Avatar image for monty_4256

tales of games take a looong time to translate, and they don't ship most of them over to europe and america anyway yeah, i'm not too worried about the drought, has a good amount of games i want and won't bust my wallet and still leave me missing games

Avatar image for Goodyarn

yea what about Dragon Quest 9? - much less Dragon Quest 4 remake!

Avatar image for IpodHero176

Where is Final Fantasy 4 and Dragon Quest 9?

Avatar image for Bodboy466

Wow, Summer is like a drought for gamers. You'd think someone would take advantage of that...

Avatar image for Darthmatt

Nintendo sure is making it a lot easier on my gaming budget. There are only two wii titles on this list I want to get. Where is Tales of symphonia 2?

Avatar image for h4xx0rz

A lot of these titles might be worth a good look, some will be blockbusters, and, in addition to all the titles people have mentioned, I really want to see Assassin's Creed for the DS.

Avatar image for jasonb619

Anyone else dissapointed FF4 DS is not on the list? :(

Avatar image for XanderZane

Huge list of games. A lot of it is crap, but at least 8-10 titles on that list I'll probably get. Games like No More Heroes, SSBB, The World Ends with You, Mario Kart, Advance Wars: Days of Ruin, Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Rings of Fate, Naruto: Ninja Destiny, Ninja Gaiden Dragon Sword and maybe a couple others will be in my collection. At least Nintendo isn't skimping on the games. People wanted more games and here they are.

Avatar image for MajinSean

"May: King of Fighters: The Orochi Saga from SNK Playmore" That totally made my May. :D

Avatar image for ltmustbebunnies

More Pokemon Mystery Dungeon? What?

Avatar image for kejigoto

This list really isn't that bad considering we are still in January and I'm sure there are plenty of games we will see that aren't on this list simply because there isn't a release date set for them yet. I'm fairly pleased with this list because it does have some great games in there that I know alot of people will pick up. And I don't mean the normal titles such as Mario Kart Wii, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, and the big hitters from Nintendo, but I'm looking at involvement from other companies such as Lucas Arts, Square Enix, 2K Sports/Games, Hudson, Capcom, Konami, and Tecmo just to name a few. There is alot of potential for some great games and I'm excited about a few games on the list like Force Unleashed, Dong King Presents: Prizefighter, No More Heroes, and The Masked Queen and the Tower of Mirrors. If games like these do well this opens up alot for other companies to realize exactly what can be done on the Wii and set the standard for great Wii games. Let's hope these companies put the effort needed into these titles and bring even more great titles to the Wii. Nintendo dominated 2007, let's see if they can dominate 2008.
