Nintendo Direct: All The Switch Game Announcements & News (September 2019)
Here's everything you need to know from Nintendo's September livestream.

The much-anticipated September Nintendo Direct aired on Thursday, and at 40 minutes long, it had a lot on offer. This presentation for September 2019 was teased as focusing primarily on 2019 Switch games, we did get a look at some games releasing in 2020. But without a doubt, the focus was on what you can play on Switch in the next few months--as well as a number of things you can play right now (or this week), such as new Super Smash Bros. Ultimate DLC, SNES games, and a whole lot more. On that front, we have a roundup of the Switch games and DLC released after the Direct that you can pick up right now.
The leaked Switch version of Overwatch was confirmed right at the start of the broadcast, and that was followed by a furious slate of announcements. Everything from Deadly Premonition 2 to additional Smash DLC characters to Star Wars and so many more things were shown. Overwatch For Switch
Overwatch is officially coming to Nintendo Switch; it releases on October 15. Physical copies will include a download code for the game.
SNES Games On Switch
Nintendo Switch Online members will be able to get access to a selection of Super Nintendo games beginning September 5. The launch games include F-Zero, Super Metroid, Super Mario World, and more, including some unexpected games. A special SNES-style controller will also be released.

Xenoblade Chronicles Remake
2012's Xenoblade Chronicles for Wii is coming to Switch. Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition releases at some point in 2020.
Luigi's Mansion 3 ScreamPark Multiplayer Mode
Nintendo showcased a new multiplayer mode for 2-8 players called ScreamPark. It can be played with a single Joy-Con per player.
Super Kirby Clash
A brand-new Kirby game called Super Kirby Clash has been announced for Switch. It's free-to-start (Nintendo's preferred term for free-to-play games) and is out now. It features both a single-player and multiplayer mode.
Trials Of Mana
The RPG Trials of Mana releases on Switch on April 24, 2020.
Return Of The Obra Dinn
One of last year's most acclaimed PC games, Return of the Obra Dinn, is coming to Switch. It releases sometime this fall.
Little Town Hero Is GameFreak's New Game
The new game from Pokemon maker GameFreak has been revealed as Little Town Hero, and it's coming quite soon. It releases on October 16.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Adds Banjo & Kazooie
The newest DLC fighter in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Banjo & Kazooie, was announced earlier this year. But the Direct brought news of a surprise release for the character(s)--they're out now.
Next Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Character Revealed, More Fighters Coming
With a new character available, Nintendo revealed what's next for Smash Ultimate DLC: The next fighter will be Terry Bogard from Fatal Fury.
Even More Super Smash Bros. Ultimate DLC Is Coming
While only five DLC fighters were confirmed to be coming to Smash Ultimate, Nintendo announced that even more will follow this batch. Home Run Contest mode is also making a comeback.
New Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Costumes Include Undertale's Sans
New costumes based on games like Pokemon and Undertale (Sans!) have been released. In the US, they're priced at $0.75 each. In the case of Sans, it comes with a music pack feature a song remixed by Toby Fox.
Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Encore
Wii U game Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE is headed to Switch in the form of an "Encore" version with a new song that wasn't in the original, along with other new story elements and more content. It releases on January 17, 2020.
Deadly Premonition & Deadly Premonition 2
Quirky Twin Peaks-like game Deadly Premonition is now available on Switch as Deadly Premonition Origins. Additionally, a sequel called Deadly Premonition 2 is coming in 2020.
Divinity: Original Sin 2
One of the best RPGs of recent memory, Divinity: Original Sin 2 Definitive Edition is releasing on Switch--and it's out now.
The classic shooter Doom 64 is coming to Switch. It releases on November 22.
Hi-Rez Studios has revealed a brand-new IP. It's called Rogue Company and looks to be a third-person shooter of some sort. It releases in 2020.
Tetris 99 2.0
An enhanced version of Tetris 99 is coming on September 5 as a free update. It has daily missions and a new Invictus mode, among other things.
Daemon x Machina Prologue Demo
New mech game Daemon x Machine releases soon, and you'll be able to try it now. Following an earlier demo, a new prologue demo (complete with four-player multiplayer) has hit the Eshop. Progress made in it can carry over to the full game.
New Pokemon In Sword & Shield
Nintendo further detailed this year's Pokemon Sword & Shield, discussing its new customization features and a new Pokemon.
Star Wars Jedi Knight II Jedi Outcast
Star Wars game Jedi Knight II Jedi Outcast is being ported to Switch later this month. It arrives on September 24.
Assassin's Creed Rebel Collection
As rumored, the Assassin's Creed Rebel Collection is coming to Switch. It releases on December 6 and includes two games: Rogue and Black Flag.
A Big Game Montage
Partway through the Direct, Nintendo showed a game montage with a variety of games, including a new Just Dance and Devil May Cry 2, the latter of which releases on September 19.
