This summer, Nickelodeon character Spongebob Squarepants and Major League Baseball slugger Matt Holliday will meet…on the baseball diamond.
2K Games today announced Nicktoons MLB, a new game due out this summer for the Wii, DS, and Xbox 360's Kinect motion-sensing system. The baseball title will sport a roster of Nicktoons that includes the aforesaid sponge, Zim, Dudley Puppy, Fanboy, Ren and Stimpy, and Chum Chum.
The game also boasts a human roster that includes Matt Holliday, Robinson Cano, Andre Ethier, Miguel Cabrera, Jason Heyward, Cliff Lee, and others from all 30 MLB teams.
2K did not announce if the game will be a traditional baseball simulator but did note that the title will include "custom created digital ballparks" that range from Boston Red Sox home field Fenway Park to the "frigid Frosty Freeze Field."
2K said it plans to support the upcoming games with social media and promotional events at MLB ballparks throughout the country.
