Electronic Arts has announced that its latest hockey game, NHL 2002, is now shipping to stores. The game is the latest in EA's NHL series, and it features a number of improvements on the previous games. One significant improvement is a new breakaway cam that focuses on one-on-one situations. In addition, the game features improved lighting, customized celebrations, saucer passes, and better graphics.

NHL 2002 includes all 30 NHL franchises, 20 international teams, and more than 700 face-mapped models of active NHL players. The in-game music is provided by Toronto-based band Barenaked Ladies, along with The Tea Party, Treble Charger, Jet Set Satellite, and other bands.

NHL 2002 was developed by EA Canada, and the PC version of the game will soon be available in stores for an approximate retail price of $39.99. For more information, take a look at our in-depth preview of the game.
