Next Xbox One Backwards-Compatible Games Arrive

Both Force Unleashed titles arrive on Star Wars Day.

For the second time in as many days, Microsoft has added new titles to the Xbox One backwards compatibility program. Today's new additions, as announced by Microsoft's Major Nelson on Twitter, are Star Wars: The Force Unleashed and Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II.

The Xbox 360 titles come to the program on Star Wars Day, which we have to imagine is no coincidence...

If you already own (or decide to buy) these games, they'll show up in the Ready to Download area of the My Games and Apps section on your Xbox One. You can download and play them like any other game.

As mentioned, this is the second time this week that Microsoft added new games to the backwards compatibility program. On May 3, Microsoft introduced Jet Set Radio, MX vs. ATV Reflex, and Texas Hold 'Em.

There are now more than 150 games in the Xbox One's backwards compatibility library. You can see all of the Xbox 360 games you can currently play on an Xbox One here.

New games are added to the mix whenever they are ready, not on a set schedule. There are five games confirmed to be coming to the program but not delivered yet. These are Call of Duty: Black Ops, BioShock, BioShock 2, BioShock Infinite, and Skate 3.

That's great they're adding games to the backwards compatibility list, but are there any NEW titles that compel me to actually buy an Xbox One? I can already play these great titles on my 360. I'm having a hard time considering buying the latest and greatest console hardware to only play the same games I can already play on my 360; seems like a big waste of money.

I got both of those games on Steam sale. Xbox gamers shouldn't miss out on the first Unleashed but the second game sucks ass.

@davillain-: Is the DLC for the first one worth it?

@MrFreehuggs: If you really find yourself enjoying the first game like me, then you will also enjoy the DLC as well.

Xbox One backwards compatibility games are like that song: they won't stop coming, they won't stop coming...I think it is a Annihilator's song....good stuff....MS must be keeping the big titles form E3....by August BWC will have a pretty good list of titles.

TFU Utlimate Sith Edition's second disc isn't included and the TFU DLC isn't accessible on X1? Damn! The parallel timeline DLC was hilarious. Also the DLC for TFUII is out so who knows what the deal is.

Eh. Let me know when they make Red Dead Redemption: GOTY Edition, all the COD's, all the Bioshocks, etc. backward compatible. This still doesn't compel me to retire the 360.

@UnrealPro:

I honestly feel like what Microsoft is going to do is wait ro add these games to back compat to coincide with big releases of sequels to the same series. So don't worry dude I believe there coming we just gotta wait for Microsoft to use them as a marketing tool first.

Even better since they're on sale right now. I was on the fence about buying them but now I definitely am.

Always nice to see new games added, even better when those are retail disc games. Played Stick of Truth on my X1 last night for several hours, a game I probably would not have played, or even bought, had the opportunity to play it on my X1 not existed. When I got my PS4 & X1, I retired my 360 and PS3.
