Next Xbox One Backwards-Compatible Game Arrives

The Xbox One's backwards compatibility catalog grows again today. Microsoft's Larry "Major Nelson" Hryb announced on Twitter that the Xbox 360 version of 1982 arcade classic Joust has been added.

If you already owned Joust on Xbox 360, it should show up automatically in your Xbox One game library. You can also buy it for $5; it's not a hard drive hog at all, weighing in at 18.2 MB.

For those unfamiliar, Joust is the arcade classic that sees you, as a lance-wielding knight, controlling a flying ostrich. You must defeat enemies who are also riding birds throughout waves of increasing difficulty. There is also two-player support, both locally and online.

Joust is the second addition to the Xbox One's backwards compatibility catalog this week, following Call of Duty 2 (featuring an improved frame rate) on Tuesday.

The Xbox One's backwards compatibility feature arrived in November 2015. Since then, the response has been "overwhelming," Microsoft recently said. Earlier this month, the company said users have collectively spent 145 million hours playing Xbox 360 games on Xbox One.
