Next-gen Assassin's Creed IV versions will have 'connected features'

In addition to souped-up graphics and physics, the next-generation versions of Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag will feature various "connected features," according to creative director Jean Guesdon (via CVG). The nature of these features remains vague.

"Next-gen versions will bring to the players new connected features allowing them to feel that even if they remain 'single player' it will be better to be a 'single connected player,'" Guesdon said. "I mean that next-gen consoles will allow players to have a solo experience that benefit the presence of a huge community."

The PlayStation 4 version of Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag is the only announced next-generation version thus far. Ubisoft has teased that the game will be released on "other" next-gen platforms, suggesting the title will come to Microsoft's still unannounced Xbox 720.

Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag will launch October 29 for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PS4, PC, and Wii U. The PS4 version will receive "exclusive features." Its development is spread across eight Ubisoft studios: Montreal, Singapore, Sofia, Annecy, Kiev, Quebec, Bucharest, and Montpellier.
