Next Battlefield Game Set For Next Year On Xbox Series X And PS5

The new Battlefield game is coming to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X in 2021.

The next Battlefield game is coming in 2021, developer DICE has confirmed. In a statement to IGN, the Swedish studio said that, with support for Star Wars: Battlefront II and Battlefield V winding down, it is "focused on the future of Battlefield" for a new game set for release in 2021. The studio has split its efforts between the two series since Star Wars: Battlefront back in 2015.

This new Battlefield game was announced in October 2019, at which time publisher Electronic Arts said the game would launch in the company's fiscal year 2022, which runs from April 2021 to March 2022. Now we know a more specific launch period--sometime in 2021.

EA hasn't shared any concrete details about the new Battlefield game, but it did tease that the title will be "targeting new innovation that will be enabled by next-gen platforms."

By the time that this new Battlefield game releases in 2021, the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X will be on the market, so you can probably expect it to launch on those consoles, as well as PC.

EA said it is releasing this new Battlefield game in 2021 instead of 2020, when the new consoles release, to take advantage of their larger install base. "Bringing out Battlefield [in 2020], where the new console base is fairly small, doesn't really give justice to the potential of the title, and so that's part of our driver in moving the title into fiscal 22," EA management said.

DICE has studios in Stockholm, Sweden and in Los Angeles, California. The DICE LA studio is now being run by Respawn co-founder Vince Zampella, as part of the expanded responsibilities of his recent promotion.

2018's Battlefield V took place in World War II, while 2016's Battlefield 1 was set during World War I. The series hasn't seen a modern-day release since 2015's Battlefield Hardline.

Just my opinion, BF4 was the best version of this series.

Oh no, not ready for another BF, as I just bought BF5 on sale cuz none of my friends want to buy the damn thing, so I waited. I was really looking for Star Wars: Battlefront 3 & I was sure it would come this holiday or 2021.

Also, I still prefer the gameplay of SWBF1 since in 2 they removed the jet pack for every player & the bacta bomb healing. One felt like a bad azz with those in hand & 2 felt hindered and immobile, even though 2 had better graphics. If they make a BF3, make it like BF1, please! Most of my friends still play BF1 over BF2.

After they shit canned BF V and dropping the last bit of content this june they better drop an insane Modern Warfare BF. People will barely pre-order it though after this fiasco.

No one should be putting any money forward on this until it's proven that it's a full product. No live services, no gaslighting the playerbase, playable at release without significant trouble. They need to demonstrate that they took the failure of BFV to heart and learned the lessons. There was a time in the past where the goodwill they earned was enough to warrant the purchase of the next title; those days are gone. They need to earn purchases again.

And in other news the sky is blue, lol.

I’m sure the next gen of consoles will be home to the usual yearly suspects. I’m looking at you as well Call of Duty.

Waiting for the inevitable next gen Assassins creed title to be leaked soon .

😉
