New Zelda: Breath of the Wild Video Shows Link Cooking Food

Cooking has its benefits in Breath of the Wild.

Nintendo has released a new gameplay video for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Whereas past trailers have shown Link's incredible action and combat skills, this one focuses on his culinary prowess.

Watch the video below to see Link light a fire and cook a meal of steamed mushrooms. Cooking in the game has its benefits, as Link gets a temporary maximum heart increase for this particular dish. In another segment, Link cooks a meal of spicy sauteed peppers, which temporarily raises his body temperature when consumed. This comes in handy when Link travels to cold areas. There are some nice touches in the video, too, as Link happily hums as the food cooks and pats his belly after gulping down his meal.

The video also shows off what happens when Link combines the wrong ingredients. This leads to "dubious food," which, according to the description, is "too gross to even look at." The description goes on, "A bizarre smell issues forth from this heap. Eating it won't hurt you though ... probably."

Breath of the Wild is coming to Wii U and NX in 2017. The new console is due out in March 2017, though it remains to be seen if Breath of the Wild will be a launch title or if it may come later. The game was delayed multiple times and appeared as the highlight of Nintendo's E3 2016 showing.

Recently, a March 4 release date for the Breath of the Wild Amiibo figures showed up online, though this date has not been confirmed, nor is it known if this is when the game itself launches.
