New Wolfenstein Game Possibly Teased At Bethesda E3 2016 Conference

"The New Colossus"

Bethesda's E3 2016 press conference just wrapped up, and we got a lot of new information about what the company is up to, including a new Quake game, called Quake: Champions. In the moments before the game was announced, Bethesda also possibly teased a new Wolfenstein property called "The New Colossus".

A mock cmd.exe screen flashed just before the Quake trailer that showed a rundown of some of the Bethesda releases since the 90s. This included games in the Wolfenstein series, such as Wolfenstein 3D, The New Order, and The Old Blood. It also shows an unknown property called "The New Colossus," with a release date listed as only **-**-**. You can see the image below:

It's not clear what The New Colossus is at the moment--it could be an expansion or a full game. However, "New Colossus" refers to a sonnet by Emma Lazarus, which, in addition to appearing on the base of the Statue of Liberty, was also recited by Wolfenstein protagonist BJ Blazkowicz at the end of The New Order.

Although Bethesda did not directly announce a new Wolfenstein project, this possible tease fits with rumors and leaks that arose in the days before E3. Last week, a report suggested that Bethesda would announce a Skyrim remaster and a completely reworked Prey 2, along with Wolfenstein 2. The first two rumors came true, and it appears the third wasn't far off.

Bethesda made a string of game announcements during its press conference, and you can catch up on all of it here. Keep an eye on GameSpot for more news all this week during the E3 conference.

Both recent Wolfenstein's were great entertainment. Needed more DLC. But have played these a couple of times. Can't wait for the next. That was about the best news at the E3.

Was very much hoping to hear about Elder Scrolls 6, but nothing. Sad.
Also, why does the screen say BE3 5-12-16, shouldn't it be 6-12-16 ??

As for Pray 2 - if its revamped why not call it "Pray - A New Tomorrow" or something instead of #2 since its starting new.

Sign me up for another Wolfenstein from Machine Games; The New Order was great.

I had missed this during the show, it only flashed on screen for a brief second. Having Commander Keen at the top of the list caught my eye so I was focused on that. Wonder how many remember that old game.

The New Order was amazing. Best SP FPS I've played since Half Life 2. If they can do the same job or even top the New Order, I'll be a very happy camper.

I think the fact that Bethesda took Prey 2 from the depths of developer hell it was stuck in, resurrected it and made something that appears to be even better, gave it to Arkane (amazing devs) AND are still releasing it in a new & improved version just speaks volumes. They could have just said, "Nope, nope and more nopes." and left it where it festered. It probably cost a ton of money to do with it what they have done and to not give up on it because they knew a vision existed for it somewhere. It just shows an uncanny perserverance and fortitude to make something positive happen out of a negative situation. ESPECIALLY in the game developing/publishing business. Good for Bethesda. Prey is now BACK on my wishlist. Again. Fingers crossed.

Creative. If the rumor is true, then there is one more game added to my "hype list".

@sargentpsgamer: Machine Games did a hell of a job with both games as well. Some of the most fun I've had in the past few years in a fps. Just an FYI, Machine Games was founded and "stars" former members of Starbreeze Studio. Ya know, those awesome devs that made The Chronicles of Riddick and The Darkness? They have a great pedigree of game making and seem to just continue that trend over at MG. Hopefully, this "New Colossus" is some new Wofenstein. I'm all ready for that.

@sargentpsgamer: The article doesn't suggest otherwise. Is there a point to your comment?

@i_am_kesmonkey: They silently edited the article. It originally said list of id Software games, not Bethesda games.
