New Super Robot for PS2

The latest installment in Banpresto's long-running series will feature mechs from a variety of anime series.

TOKYO--According to the latest issue of Famitsu magazine, Banpresto will release a new Super Robot title for the PlayStation 2. Titled Super Robot Taisen MX, the game will mark the 32nd release in the long-running simulation/RPG series. The Super Robot Taisen games are known for their wide integration of mech robots from different anime titles. While Banpresto is a subsidiary of Bandai, the series will include characters and mechs from other companies, such as Gainax's Neon Genesis Evangelion.

While not much is known about Super Robot Taisen MX, the game will take advantage of the PS2's graphic capabilities and use widescreen cut scenes for special actions taken by the characters. For battles, the game will forgo the platoon system from Dai-2-Ji Super Robot Taisen Alpha in favor of a new support attack system.

Development on Super Robot Taisen MX's development is currently 50 percent complete, and it is scheduled for a March 2004 release in Japan. It will feature characters from the following anime titles:
