New Star Wars: Force Awakens Footage Revealed in First TV Spot

The first official TV commercial for Star Wars: The Force Awakens has been released. Published on Twitter, the 30-second spot features new footage from the upcoming sci-fi blockbuster. Expect to see this on TV a lot in the lead-up to the movie's release in December. A YouTube version is available below, from JoBlow.

"I have lived long enough to see the same eyes in different people," says a mysterious voice. "I see your eyes. I know your eyes."

This new TV spot comes just days after Disney released a new international trailer for The Force Awakens that revealed even more brand-new footage from the film.

The Force Awakens opens on December 18, 2015. The film stars John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Max von Sydow, Harrison Ford, and Carrie Fisher.

Absent from this trailer--and all the others--is Luke Skywalker. In October, director JJ Abrams confirmed that it was "no accident" that Mark Hamill has so far been missing from all promotional material.

"No accident Hamill is missing from the trailers".......I can see some producers sitting at a bar laughing saying, "yea, mark showed up all excited to be in the movie and had even got back in shape for the role. We were all geeked up on coke and shot him for 2 days while not even recording, but we never told him. He seriously thinks he is gonna be in the movie. Actually we just did a cgi version of him. We'll let him do a voice over and give him a small check so he cant sue us! Hahahaha"

Anticipating this movie a lot, but wished they came up with more "starwarsy" main character names like Han Solo, Luke SkyWalker, Obi Wan, etc

@jawakee: Those names are only "starwarsy" because they've been established and your mind has attatched them to star wars. But if star wars didn't exist and you told me you were going to name a guy Han Solo or Luke Skywalker in a story, people would probably think it was stupid. To me, Finn, Rey, Poe and Maz are all very cool star wars names an have grown on me.

@elessarGObonzo: Disney has nothing to do with the EU and determining what is canon, that decision was made by Lucasfilm CEO Kathleen Kennedy. As far as George has been concerned the EU is fan fiction, he never liked it and always disagreed with it. He overwrote it himself when he made the prequels (many things were overwritten and rewritten) and this film would have done the same with or without Disney. The eu is an absolute mess story telling wise, even the EU writers expected this. Mara jade no longer exists and is not canon

Maybe George had plans to make 7, 8 & 9 himself, and that's why he didn't like the EU. Random writers making up stories that the audience is likely to prefer over your own version, as the creator, must really burn ^_^.
Kinda liked the idea of Jar-Jar being a master deceiver, only playing the dumb one, while possibly pulling strings with Palpatine. At least better than the Jar-Jar we ended up with :(

@senorbusymanI believe they will answer why Luke had a small part in the next movie and I think it was designed that way to get people into the next movie. If they did that it was very smart of them to do it. I hope this movie do very well and it is good to see the stars from the very first three movies.

Yeah It's pretty much been confirmed that Luke is a minor part in this one but major in the next one (two maybe.) My guess? He'll be the new "Yoda" and head of the new Jedi council if they go with the New Jedi order route.

May not be in this movie but eventually she is going to turn to the dark side. Too much anger. That is of course if she is ever trained in the force.

@elessarGObonzo: Disney had no say in deciding to reset the canon, that was all Lucasfilm and there CEO . George Lucas would have done the same. Unfortunately those characters you name will only live on in the "legends" branding, none are canon. Hopefully the new canon tells its own great story.
