The crew of starship Enterprise head into space for another adventure next week, when Star Trek Beyond hits screens. A new clip from the film has been released that shows Kirk and crew facing a scary alien adversary. Check it out below:

Star Trek: Beyond is directed by Justin Lin and stars Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Karl Urban, Zoe Saldana, Simon Pegg, and John Cho.

Last week, it was revealed that helmsman Hikaru Sulu was the first gay character in the long-running sci-fi franchise. Although actor John Cho was complimentary of director Justin Lin and writer Simon Pegg's decision not to make a big deal of this, original Sulu actor George Takei was critical about the decision.

Takei told THR that while he was pleased there was a gay character, he felt that it was "a twisting of [Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry's] creation, to which he put in so much thought."

Star Trek: Beyond hits theaters on July 22, 2016.
