New Skyrim and Fallout 4 Patches Now Available On PS4 And Xbox One

New PS4 Pro enhancements now available for Fallout 4.

New updates for a pair of Bethesda games, Fallout 4 and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - Special Edition, are now available on both Xbox One and PS4.

These patches--1.4 for Skyrim and 1.9 for Fallout 4--are already available on PC. They primarily deal with fixing bugs and introducing some new functionality for browsing mods. Specifically, you can now easily see the number of favorites or ratings a mod has received, and there are options to sort mods by Highest Rated or Most Favorite on a daily, weekly, monthly, or all-time basis.

If you're a PS4 Pro owner, however, the Fallout 4 update will be of particular interest to you. It introduces new support for the console's additional horsepower, providing a native 1440p resolution, improved draw distances for certain elements (trees, NPCs, grass, and objects), and enhanced godray light effects.

Both patches are live now on all platforms; PC players can also now grab a high-resolution texture pack for free. You can see the full patch notes in the comments below.

"You can now easily see the number of favorites or ratings a mod has received, and there are options to sort mods by Highest Rated or Most Favorite on a daily, weekly, monthly, or all-time basis."

Because why include obvious features at launch if you can wait until no one would actually use them? Holy balls, Bethesda. How did you not just copy Nexus or Steam when designing your site? Or at least include the very freaking basics?

@RS13: I'm still playing Pkmn yellow, Skyrim, and Black Ops. If your abandoning older games because you think nobody cares 3 months after launch you be out your mind.

@Blade_Runner_07: yeah im replaying the entire dead space series on PC, right now. It's just as epic as it was when it came out. And ill most likely dabble in Skyrim again one day.

@RS13: Okay. I did. Sounds like your under the impression that nobody is playing Fallout 4 or Skyrim Special Edition anymore. I can assure you, many people are playing them every day, and they won't appreciate how good they have it with these features. I think we can agree Bethesda is late in getting this patch out, but you sounded like you assumed nobody cared. This is a good thing.

Big deal, I have had these same graphics enhancement patches since about a month after the game first dropped originally on my Computer. In fact, the mods I got are STILL better looking than whatever this is I am looking at.

@vasarto: yeah but not on a 85 in. I would definitely give up visuals for screen size. What do u have maybe a 23 in screen? I'll stick with my 85in.

@Evo8u: You can connect a computer to a 85 inch screen and play the game with your choice of Xbox, PS4, or Steam controller. What's more, Steam has a big picture mode UI precisely for playing on a TV. I've got a PS4 Pro, and that's how I'm playing FO4, but if I had a good enough computer then I'd probably just connect that to my 4k tv and play in full 2160p instead of 1440p. I'm good with 1440p though. Hopefully the frame rates are stable.

@Evo8u: yes you're right. PCs and TV don't mix. There's refresh rate issues and things just don't look quite right.

Consoles are made for TV. And with the PS4 Pro, the graphics are good to the point that you won't see anymore jaggies and blurry textures. Let's not even mention HDR....or the PC side will collectively moan

@beowulf1211: been running my pc on tvs for over 10 years with no refresh rate problems and or things not looking right.

Also pc does hdr too. I've been playing RE7 and Hitman with hdr enabled just fine.

It's so good to get the ps4 pro support... I never played fallout 4 because when it got released, I was playing Metal Gear at the time and ALL of my coworkers constantly talked about it and it drove me nuts... well just so happens, I was in a small "mom's and pops" toy store in my area 2 weeks ago and he was selling fallout 4, for $9.99, I jumped on it and have been SPRUNG on it ever since. I have about 40 hours in and I get PS4 pro support while I just hit level 24. I have so far to go, but will enjoy every minute

@gokartmozart89: I planned on getting the season pass to get all of the DLC, but I didn't want to ruin my story until my level was higher (since I'm at level 24 at the moment). Same with the MODS, I haven't used any. Is it a good idea for me to wait on the DLC or does it matter?

@opt1mu5prime: Don't touch the mods at all if you care about trophies. Mods automatically disable trophies in both Skyrim and FO4 on PS4. They will remain disabled even if you turn the mod off later down the road. You will have to start over if there are any outstanding trophies you want, unless you want to mess around with save files. Otherwise, mod away.
