New Scream Character Poster Reveals Ghostface's Identity

The latest film in the hugely popular slasher series hit theaters next month.

Paramount Pictures has released a new poster showcasing the cast of characters for Scream. The upcoming fifth movie in the hit horror franchise will release on January 14.

Coyly, the poster claims "the killer is on this poster," but with a total of twelve characters featured, it doesn't narrow down figuring out who Ghostface might be all that much. But it does mean that the new Ghostface has to either be one of the series mainstays played by Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, or David Arquette, or one of the new characters played by Melissa Barrera (In the Heights), Mason Gooding (Love, Victor), Mikey Madison (Better Things), Dylan Minnette (13 Reasons Why), Jenna Ortega (Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous), Jack Quaid (The Boys), Marley Shelton (Rise), Jasmin Savoy Brown (Yellowjackets), or Sonia Ammar. Check out the new poster below.

If you want to pore over it further and try to form a theory, scanning the poster in tandem with watching this recently-released TV spot might help--a tiny bit. The clip is awfully short, but it does feature a number of moments from the film. While you're at it, you can check out these recent character posters, the full trailer, and this more recent teaser.

Scream also stars Jack Quaid (The Boys), Melissa Barrera (Vida, In the Heights), and Jenna Ortega (Insidious: Chapter 2, Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous). The movie is directed by Tyler Gillett and Matt Bettinelli-Olpin, who previously helmed 2019's acclaimed horror-comedy Ready or Not. The previous four movies were all directed by Wes Craven, who died in 2015. However, Kevin Williamson, who wrote all the other films, remains on board as executive producer of the new film.

In related news, the first trailer for another big horror franchise sequel--Texas Chainsaw Massacre--was released this month. For more, check out GameSpot's guide to the biggest upcoming movies of 2022.
