A new featurette for the upcoming slasher sequel Scream has been released. The fifth movie in the hit horror series arrives in theaters on January 14.

The latest promo mixes short soundbites from the cast and crew with clips from the movie. Kevin Williamson, who wrote the first four movies and is a producer on this one, describes how the new film connects the new cast with the older actors. Lead actor Melissa Barrera reveals that her character Sam is the new target of the Ghostface killer, while original cast member Courteney Cox states that she can't believe how "shocking" some of the new movie is. Check it out below:

Scream also stars Neve Campbell, David Arquette, Jack Quaid, and Jenna Ortega. It's directed by Tyler Gillett and Matt Bettinelli-Olpin, who previously helmed 2019's acclaimed horror-comedy Ready or Not. Check out the recent Scream trailer here.

In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Campbell discussed how she felt about returning to the series, after four previous movies directed by the late Wes Craven. "I genuinely was in two minds," she said. "The idea of making these films without Wes seemed challenging to me. I loved the man very much.

"But Matt and Tyler wrote me a letter, speaking of their appreciation and great respect for Wes Craven, and speaking of the fact that the very reason that they are directors today was because of these movies and because of Wes, and that meant a great deal to me."
