A new sci-fi movie set in the near future where society has a pill that removes the need to sleep is in the works from director Justin Kurzel with a big-name cast. The movie is called Morning, and it will star Oscar-winning actress Laura Dern (Marriage Story, Jurassic Park), Oscar nominee Benedict Cumberbatch (The Imitation Game, The Avengers), and Noah Jupe (A Quiet Place, Honey Boy).

Kurzel is known in the gaming world for directing the 2016 Assassin's Creed film starring Michael Fassbender. Kurzel followed that up with True History of the Kelly Gang in 2019 and Nitram in 2021.

The full description for Morning follows below, as shared by The Hollywood Reporter:

"Morning is set in a near future where society has a pill that does away with the need to sleep. With the added help of an artificial sun, there is finally no end to morning daylight, living and work. But as a young generation grows up deprived of the world of sleep, is it time for them to rebel and reclaim their dreams?"

Sam Steiner wrote Morning, while cinematographer Adam Arkapaw (Assassin's Creed, Macbeth) and costume designer Alice Babidge (Nitram) are working on the movie as well.

It's still early days, and no release date has been announced for Morning.
