QuakeCon 2018 is underway, and as promised, it's given fans a ton of new details on a number of Bethesda's upcoming titles. In addition to revealing the first gameplay footage of Doom Eternal, the publisher's keynote address brought a new gameplay demo of Rage 2, the open-world post-apocalyptic shooter coming to PS4, Xbox One, and PC next year.

The demo, which you can watch below, provides another extended look at the game in action, including showing off the first footage of a convoy takedown. The clip begins with an overview of the story, revealing that Rage 2 is set 30 years after the events of the first game. The Earth has started to recover after being ravaged by a global catastrophe, and plant and animal life have begun springing up around the planet.

Players assume the role of a character from Vineland, which they've recently had to flee after it was attacked by the Authority. The demo then kicks off with a trek through a wetland area to track down Dr. Kvasir. A firefight soon breaks out with Authority mutants, showcasing some of the weapons you'll have in your arsenal--including the boomerang-like Wingstick, which boasts a few new abilities in this title.

Later in the demo, the player character ventures to the Eden Space Center to call down Eco-15 from orbit. However, the facility is overrun by the Goon Squad, one of the many factions that vie for control over the wastelands. Each of these gangs has their own distinct combat style; the Goon Squad are described as "hyper violent and completely lawless," while the Shrouded are "elite bandits who have access to incredible tech."

We also get a look at some of the vehicles you'll be able to pilot. Bethesda says these will play an even more integral role in Rage 2. Of course, you won't be the only one with access to vehicles; enemy factions will also roam about the world in their own distinctive rides, and you'll come across "massive" convoys with a powerful leader.

Rage 2 still doesn't have a release date, but the game is slated to arrive for PS4, Xbox One, and PC in Spring 2019. We went hands-on with a brief demo of the game before its E3 reveal, but weren't quite sure what to think of it.
