Double Fine Productions has released a developer diary for Psychonauts 2, introducing lead designer Zak McClendon.

In the video, which you can see below, McClendon says he wants to improve "the stuff that's obviously fixable," such as camera, the overall level of polish, and the way protagonist Raz controls.

"I think there's a lot of bits of Psychonauts that are charmingly lopsided and don't quite fit together in a way that people expect or want in a modern game," he explained.

"I think that stuff is pretty easily fixable ... I think that's the thing that Psychonauts 2 absolutely has to hit to be as good a platformer game as anything else out there."

Psychonauts 2 was announced at The Game Awards, alongside a crowdfunding campaign. Since then, more than 20,000 backers have helped raise a total of over $3.8 million.

Schafer revealed story details for the Psychonauts 2 in a Reddit AMA. You can check out GameSpot's exclusive interview with Double Fine CEO Tim Schafer on the upcoming Psychonauts 2 here.

A PlayStation 4 version of the original Psychonauts was released on June 7.
