New PS5 Cyberpunk 2077 Gameplay Revealed
The latest Cyberpunk 2077 gameplay footage provides a glimpse at the PS5's capabilities.
Developer CD Projekt Red has unveiled a brand-new gameplay video that briefly shows Cyberpunk 2077 running on PlayStation 5 via backwards compatibility. And it looks glorious. (You can read about our time with the PC version in GameSpot's Cyberpunk 2077 review.)
The approximately seven-minute gameplay video begins on PlayStation 4 Pro, with the person in control starting as a Nomad from the beginning of the game. We see the character creator, then protagonist V interacting with a mechanic before setting off into the open world. There's some driving, Jackie in the passenger seat, and smuggling contraband. Nothing too exciting happens, but the console being played on switches about two-thirds of the way through.
It's here where the visuals become mesmerizing. Much of the footage already looked impressive on PlayStation 4 Pro, with plenty of detailed texturing and smoke effects. And thanks to the PlayStation 5's power, Cyberpunk 2077 takes on a different vibe. Ambient lighting is more atmospheric and raindrops smear across the windshield in a more believable way, making it feel all the more cyberpunk. Check out the latest gameplay video above.
Cyberpunk 2077 launches on December 10 for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series S / Series X. While the game will be available on next-gen consoles via backwards compatibility, a full-fledged next-gen upgrade will be available next year for free.
