A new Predator movie has been rumoured to be on the way for some time, but it now seems it is definitely happening. The official Facebook page for the sci-fi action franchise has released a teaser poster, which also suggests that the title of the film is The Predator. Check it out below:

The film will be directed by Iron Man 3's Shane Black, with a script by Black and Monster Squad director Fred Dekker. Last week, Dekker dropped a strong hint that the fourth Predator film was imminent. He wrote on Facebook: "I cannot say where I was this morning, or what I saw, or what we talked about. But if you are a PREDATOR fan? One word: YES."

In an interview with Collider last year, producer John Davis spoke about what fans could expect from The Predator. "I've read a lot of his script and I think it's genius," he said. "It's entertaining, and what it did is recreate a famous franchise in a different, interesting way; looking at it from a different light. He's got a way of looking at this that makes you excited again.

"The writing is so fresh, the perspective is so fresh. I'm telling you, you're going to get something you don't expect and you're going to say, 'This is the most entertaining way to reinvent a franchise.'"

There is no news about when the film might go into production. Black's next film is the 70s-set crime comedy The Nice Guys, which stars Russell Crowe and Ryan Gosling and arrives in May.

Black himself appeared in the original Predator, the 1987 smash starring Arnold Schwarzenegger and directed by John McTiernan. To date there have been four further films, including a direct sequel, 1990's Predator 2, two Alien vs. Predator movies, and 2010's Robert Rodriguez-produced Predators.
