New Pool of Radiance Screens

The sequel to the first PC Dungeons & Dragons game is nearing completion, and we have brand-new screenshots.

Stormfront Studios and SSI have released five new screenshots of their upcoming role-playing game, Pool of Radiance: Ruins of Myth Drannor. The game, which will use the new 3rd Edition Dungeons & Dragons rules, has big shoes to fill: The original Pool of Radiance was the first popular PC Dungeons & Dragons game and remains a favorite for many RPG fans.

The developers expect the highly detailed character and monster models to make Ruins of Myth Drannor stand out from the competition. One obvious visual feature seen in the character models shown is the size difference between characters - the half-orc looks almost twice as big as the halfling.

Set in Myth Drannor, the game will feature a large number of undead; zombies and wraiths can be seen in the screenshots engaged in a melee with the player characters. The images also reveal the dynamic cursor interface used in the game to access spells and attacks, and the spell effects of Melf's Acid Arrow and Hold Undead are both displayed.

Pool of Radiance: Ruins of Myth Drannor is expected to release in late fall 2000. For more information about the game including character animations take a look at our in-depth preview.
