New Pokemon Snap File Size Revealed, Online Mode Teased
Here's how much space you'll need on your Switch to download the anticipated Pokemon spin-off.
Nintendo recently gave fans another look at New Pokemon Snap. In addition to announcing the game's release date, the company has shared a few more details about the title on its website, including its file size and how many Pokemon you'll be able to catch (on film).
According to the game's product page, New Pokemon Snap will weigh in at 6.8 GB. For comparison, Pokemon Sword and Shield each take up 11.3 GB of space on Switch, while the upcoming Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury only takes up 2.9 GB.
The product page also confirms that New Pokemon Snap is a single-player game. Despite this, it appears there will be some kind of online component; the page mentions that New Pokemon Snap supports Nintendo Switch Online and features "online play," although no other details were shared beyond that. This online mode may presumably be used for sharing your best photos, but nothing has been confirmed yet.
New Pokemon Snap is a successor to the classic N64 spin-off. As in the original, the game has players riding through lush landscapes and photographing wild Pokemon. According to its official website, there will be more than 200 monsters in the game.
New Pokemon Snap launches for Nintendo Switch on April 30. No preorder bonuses have been announced just yet, but you can read more about the title in our New Pokemon Snap preorder guide.
2021 is a big year for the Pokemon series. February 27 marks the 25th anniversary of Pokemon Red and Green's release in Japan, and The Pokemon Company is celebrating the milestone all year with various events, promotions, merchandise, and more, including a collaboration with Katy Perry.
