Right on schedule, The Pokemon Company has now released the first two episodes in its Pokemon Generations short series. The first chapter is titled "The Adventure" and shows Pikachu battling other creatures in places like the Viridian Forest and the Terminus Cave.

The second episode, "The Chase," sees detective Looker of the International Police searching for clues as he hunts down Team Rocket Boss Giovanni. Needless to say, both videos are very different. You can see them both below, and it won't take too long to watch, as neither is longer than four minutes.

As announced earlier this week, there will be 18 episodes in all, with the remaining to follow every week through December 23. The episodes aim to shed new light on some of the franchise's most popular characters, locations, and stories.

2016 marks the 20th anniversary of the Pokemon series. It's already been a big year for the brand, as The Pokemon Company kicked things off with a Super Bowl 50 commercial in February. Pokemon Go was released in July and took over the world, reaching 500 million downloads and becoming the most profitable mobile game. The next entries in the mainline series, Pokemon Sun and Moon, come out in November for Nintendo 3DS.
