More supplementary content is on the way.

Blizzard and Dark Horse Comics today announced plans for future Overwatch releases, including a pair of books coming next year.

Up first is an original, hardcover graphic novel called Overwatch: First Strike that's slated for release digitally in November 2016 and physically in April. It's described as a "brand-new entry in the Overwatch canon" and "will contain 100 pages of sequential artwork telling the story of the original Overwatch strike team." It will be written by Micky Neilson and penciled by Ludo Lullabi.

Separate from this, Blizzard has been releasing releasing short comics online over the past several months. Today's announcement notes that many of these are available through Dark Horse's digital comics platform and that more of them are on the way. In fact, one was released just today featuring Soldier 76. You can read it here.

Also arriving in 2017 is The Art of Overwatch. While an art book was offered as part of Overwatch's collector's edition, this new book promises to have "a stunning collection of never-before-seen concept art." No further details were shared except that it will be out next summer.

Overwatch recently added its first post-launch character, and Blizzard continues to expand its lore with supplementary content. This has all been released outside of the game itself, which is devoid of much direct storytelling. With it clearly planning to continue, we just need to convince the company to turn it into an anime.
