Atlus has released new screenshots from Tsugunai, its unique PlayStation 2 RPG. In the game, players assume the role of a young mercenary named Leise who has angered the gods by removing a precious stone from its pedestal. As punishment, the gods strip Leise of his body and force him to possess other humans to atone for his misgivings. Tsugunai will include real-time combat with evasive maneuvers, counterattacks, and blocking. Players will be able to take control of 12 different characters throughout the course of the game, and the Celtic-themed soundtrack is being composed by Yasunori Mitsuda.

"Tsugunai is a wonderful departure from the tired concepts being used in RPGs today," said Sonoko Saito, product manager, Atlus USA. "Possessing the different characters in the game enables the user to view the story from many perspectives and not just the main hero's. This unique way of presenting the narrative enables us to turn the town of Walondia into a living, breathing world."

Tsugunai for the PlayStation 2 is currently scheduled for release in November. We'll have more information as it becomes available.
