Electronic Arts has sent us some new screenshots from the upcoming PS2 version of The Sims, the best-selling PC virtual-life game. The new game has been redesigned with more hands-on interface that's better suited to the PS2 controller. The PS2 game will have a two-player split-screen mode in which players can challenge their friends using sims saved to a memory card.
There will also be new level-based challenges in addition to the game's open-ended central gameplay mode. In the level-driven mode, players will start out in a house with next to nothing. As the challenges of a level are met, players will rise in power and influence in the neighborhood, eventually earning bigger and better homes and unlocking new objects that can be placed in the homes. The PlayStation 2 game includes the items from the PC game and its expansion packs, as well as some new items that are exclusive to the PS2 version.
The Sims for the PS2 is scheduled to ship in November. For more details, take a look at our previous coverage of the game.
