Sega has released new screenshots of Sonic the Hedgehog Advance for the Game Boy Advance. The new screenshots demonstrate the link between Sonic for the Game Boy Advance and Sonic Adventure 2 Battle for the GameCube. Sonic the Hedgehog Advance, the first Sonic game for the GBA, follows a plot that will be familiar to anyone who has played the previous installments in the series. Players must collect chaos emeralds and foil the plans of the vile Dr. Robotnik once again. When Sonic collects all the chaos emeralds, he can then use them to transform into another form for his final showdown with Robotnik.

In addition to the primary single-player quest, Sonic the Hedgehog Advance will also include several multiplayer modes. The announced multiplayer modes include chaos emerald hunt and a battle mode that may be played with four players using just one cartridge.

Sonic the Hedgehog Advance is currently scheduled for release in December. We'll have more information as it becomes available.
