New media: Pikmin

Nintendo has released several new screenshots from Shigeru Miyamoto's new GameCube game Pikmin. The game falls squarely in the real-time strategy genre, but its design and gameplay nuances are caters to the console crowd. Featuring charming characters and an intuitive gameplay system, Nintendo hopes that the game holds the same type of attraction as one of its other, similarly named, properties, Pokemon. Pikmin is currently slated for an October 26 release in Japan. Its North American release date has not been announced at this time.
