Nintendo has released new screenshots of Mario Kart Advance for the Game Boy Advance. The handheld version of Mario Kart will be a hybrid of the previously released SNES and Nintendo 64 versions of the game. Up to four players may race or battle head-to-head, and the one-player mode includes in excess of 20 tracks. The addictive battle mode from Mario Kart 64 has returned, with players having three balloons that burst as they take damage. Once all three balloons have been popped, players take control of a bomb and attempt to sabotage the remaining drivers.

As in previous iterations of the series, players will take control of many of Nintendo's most popular mascots including Peach, Bowser, Toad, Luigi, Yoshi, Mario, Wario, Donkey Kong, and more. Mario Kart Advance is currently scheduled for release in the US in July.
