Rage Software is supporting for the Microsoft Xbox with a variety of upcoming projects for the console. One of the most promising of these is Gunmetal, which has currently been announced only for Microsoft's console. In the action-shooter mech game, players assume the role of a freedom fighter who must emancipate the world from the clutches of an evil invading force. Much of the game takes place in massive outdoor spaces, and most of the environments are fully destructible. One of the primary gameplay elements in Gunmetal is the ability to transform into a jet at any point in the game, which is clearly inspired by the Transformers cartoons. Players will be able to take to the skies in faster shooting action or go at a slower pace, fighting the opposing forces in mech form. Currently, there are plans to include 25 individual missions in the game.

Gunmetal is on schedule to be released alongside the European launch of the Xbox in spring 2002. A North American release date has not been confirmed at this time.
