New media: Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath of Cortex

Universal Interactive has released new screenshots from its upcoming 3D platforming game for the PlayStation 2, Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath of Cortex. Crash's old nemesis Cortex has returned, and this time he has employed the services of the god Uka Uka, who controls four masks that hold the power of the four elements: fire, wind, water, and earth. The game will essentially follow the linear platform-style gameplay of its PlayStation predecessors, as Crash will travel down a predetermined path with a few branching paths to choose from.

There will be 30 different levels and a wealth of vehicles to control in the final game. Crash will pilot a hang glider, run inside a sphere, commandeer a helipack, and jump into a robotic suit. Coco, Crash's sister, is the game's other playable character, and she takes the reigns of a scooter to proceed through one of the game's missions. Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath of Cortex is being developed by Traveller's Tales and will be released on the PlayStation 2 this fall. Versions for the GameCube and Xbox will follow shortly thereafter.
