New media: Blood Omen 2

GameSpot has received several exclusive new screenshots from Legacy of Kain: Blood Omen 2 for the Sony PlayStation 2. The story takes place one century after the end of the first game, as players once again assume the role of the vampire Kain. His brothers have been slain by a mysterious enemy, and he has lost control of the land of Nosgoth. Now Kain must dispatch his remaining army forces and battle hordes of demons to reclaim his kingdom.

The gameplay in Blood Omen 2 will combine such elements as combat, puzzle solving, exploration, and stealth. Through the course of the game, players acquire various weapons and dark powers that can be used to access new areas and battle stronger foes. Players can also jump on rooftops and use mind control to advance through specific areas in the game. Eidos further promises that all the game's NPCs, including the myriad of enemy characters, will have advanced AI routines.

Blood Omen 2 will be released for the PlayStation 2 this winter.
