New media: Agent Under Fire

Can Electronic Arts' Agent Under Fire capture the essence of the wildly popular GoldenEye 007 for the N64?

Comments

Electronic Arts' James Bond in Agent Under Fire for the Sony PlayStation 2 is shaping up quite nicely, as evidenced by our new screenshots from the game. The more than 40 screens highlight several of the game's enemy characters and environments, including such locations as a missile launch center and an island fortress. Although the game is based primarily in the first-person shooter genre, it does include several combat-driving levels, which were designed by the team behind EA's Need for Speed series of games. Both cars and tanks can be driven in the game, and each vehicle has its own unique driving physics and weapons.

Unlike most of the previous Bond games, Agent Under Fire follows an original Bond storyline instead of being based on a specific film. In the game, a terrorist named Malprave has unleashed an army of clones and is determined to use his new troops to take over the world. Agent 007 is sent in to take on the clone army and capture Malprave. Throughout his journey, Bond will find himself in a variety of exotic real-world and fictional locations.

James Bond in Agent Under Fire will be released on the Sony PlayStation 2 in Q4 2001. GameSpot will have more in the coming weeks.
