New Lumines Game Coming to Mobile Next Week

Colourful music puzzle game hits iOS and Android devices very soon.

Cult classic action puzzle game Lumines: Puzzle & Music will be launching for iOS and Android devices on September 1. The game will be available worldwide, and will be priced at $3. You can watch the game's trailer in the embedded video.

It looks like Puzzle & Music brings back the series' trademark colourful aesthetic and electronic soundtrack. It's been a while since a new game has been released for the mainline Lumines series, the last being Lumines Electronic Symphony published by Ubisoft in 2012 and released exclusively for the PlayStation Vita.

Lumines: Puzzle & Music was initially soft-launched in Australia, New Zealand, and Japan. The game will feature both new and classic tracks, including the classic "Shinin" by Mondo Grosso. Players can unlock various skins which change the game board's music and visuals by progressing through levels. The game will be playable at PAX West, at GameSamba's booth. Attendees can also enter a raffle for Lumines prizes.

GameSpot will be covering PAX West, so be sure to check back on site for news from the show floor!

I really, really like Lumines. IMO it is one of the best Puzzle series ever and I imagine I'm pretty solid at it. That said, this will be HORRIBLE on mobiles. Everyone who played it far enough for the game to get fast knows, that you need precise controls. I don't think the touch screen is able to give me the precision I need to play it. It's really sad that the series doesn't get more attention

@ArchoNils2: Let's be optimistic. If anything, this could end on Steam, eventually!

I remember getting this game solely for the exploit to install custom firmware. But the game was alright and the music was great.

Cool. Had this on PSP and still play it on XBL. I'll definitely be picking this up.

I've had this for a week or two now (early Aussie release mentioned above) and have been having a blast. It includes a number of levels from the old PSP game. If you're a fan, be sure to check it out!
