New Look: PlayStation2 Onimusha

We take a look at Capcom's Resident Evil-like game for the PlayStation2 set during a Japanese civil war.

Comments

With its dark Japanese civil-war setting and realistic motion-captured graphics, Onimusha could very well turn out to be one of the biggest PlayStation2 titles of next year. Capcom seems to be placing some major emphasis on the game, and it's definitely shaping up to be one of the company's largest summer releases ever. Being worked on by many of the people that helped mastermind the Resident Evil series of games, it's easy to understand why. Today, we got our hands on some new shots of the game in action. While these don't show gameplay, they do display many of the movie sequences and background settings. However, make no mistake - these are all being generated in real time, and they're amazing, to say the least.

Onimusha is currently slated for a summer 2000 release in Japan, and it will likely release in the US sometime in the fall of 2000. These screens come courtesy of Japanese publication Geisen.
