The animated series is due on the streaming service sometime this fall.

Netflix has released a new teaser for Arcane, the upcoming animated series based on the world of the video game League of Legends from developer Riot Games. While the 19-second clip obviously isn't that long, it does confirm some pretty big details: The recently announced series is officially landing at Netflix and is hitting the streaming service this coming fall.

Riot Games first announced the animated show, which takes place in the utopian world of Piltover, during an eventful 10th anniversary livestream event full of surprise announcements including a new card game, mobile game, shooter, fighting game, and documentary. Arcane's story takes place in multiple Runeterra regions, and "follows the origins of two iconic League champions--and the power that will tear them apart." Check out the newly released clip below.

Like many other productions, Arcane was originally set for a 2020 release, but wound up being delayed due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Given the popularity of Netflix's Castlevania animated series, which on May 13 will see the release of the video game adaptations fourth and final season, it's likely we will be seeing more adaptations like these on the horizon both at Netflix and other services. If you're looking for more info on the streaming service, check out what's coming to Netflix in May 2021.

League of Legends is a popular multiplayer online battle arena video game developed and published by Riot Games. It first launched in 2009 and is often cited as the world's largest esport game, with an international competitive scene composed of 12 leagues.
